    Abstract: A positive electrode includes a positive electrode current collector based on aluminum, a positive electrode mixture layer disposed on the positive electrode current collector and including a lithium transition metal oxide, and a protective layer disposed between the positive electrode current collector and the positive electrode mixture layer. The protective layer includes inorganic particles, a conductive agent and a binder, the inorganic particles being a major component of the protective layer. The protective layer includes a first region disposed on the positive electrode current collector over substantially the entirety of a section covered with the positive electrode mixture layer, and a second region disposed on the positive electrode current collector so as to extend from a periphery of the positive electrode mixture layer. The weight per unit area of the second region is not less than 1.5 times the weight per unit area of the first region.
