Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an image display apparatus. The image display apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a display panel; a plurality of light sources configured to output light to the display panel; a plurality of switching elements configured to switch the light sources, respectively; and a processor configured to output a switching control signal having variable amplitude to the switching element, wherein the processor controls a driving frequency of the light source to be a second frequency higher than a first frequency corresponding to a vertical synchronization signal of the panel. Thus, the sharpness of the image can be improved.

Abstract: Provided are a display device and an operating method thereof. Abstract: An image display apparatus is disclosed. The image display apparatus includes a panel configured to display an image, a backlight including a plurality of light sources configured to output light to the panel, a light source driver configured to drive the plurality of light sources, and a processor configured to control the light source driver, wherein the processor changes the turn on duty of a light source corresponding to a moving object area in an input image and changes the level of current flowing in the light source. Consequently, the definition and luminance of an image including a moving object may be improved.
