    Abstract: The problem of looping at the egress of a transport network with a CE multihomed to a protected egress PE and a backup/protector egress PE can be avoided by (a) enabling the protector egress PE to distinguish between fast reroute (FRR) traffic coming from the protected egress PE and normal known unicast (KU) traffic coming from a PE of the transport network that is not attached to the same multihomed segment; (b) receiving, by the protector egress PE, known unicast data, to be forwarded to the CE; (c) determining, by the protector egress PE, that a link between it and the CE is unavailable; and (d) responsive to determining that the link between the protector egress PE and the CE is unavailable, (1) determining whether the known unicast traffic received was sent from the protected egress PE or from another PE of the transport network that is not attached to the same multihomed segment, and (2) responsive to a determination that the known unicast traffic received was sent from the protected egress PE, discarding the known unicast traffic received, and otherwise, responsive to a determination that the known unicast (KU) traffic received was sent from another PE of the transport network that is not attached to the same multihomed segment, sending the known multicast traffic, via a backup tunnel, to an egress PE which protects the protector egress PE.

    Abstract: The disclosed apparatus may include a set of communication ports that facilitate communication with a network device via a set of communication links that collectively operate as a LAG bundle. The disclosed apparatus may also include a link-management unit communicatively coupled to the set of communication ports that facilitate communication with the network device. The link-management unit may detect an amount of communication activity on one or more active communication links included in the set of communication links that are collectively operating as the LAG bundle. The link-management unit may then determine that the amount of communication activity detected on the active communication links has reached a certain threshold. In response to this determination, the link-management unit may modify the active communication links included in the set of communication links to account for the amount of communication activity. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A first maintenance endpoint (MEP) device may identify that a first interface of the first MEP device is associated with a connectivity failure. The first MEP device may provide, to a second MEP device, a first continuity check message (CCM), that includes a MEP identifier of the first MEP device. The first CCM may cause the second MEP device to designate a second interface of the second MEP device as being offline. The first MEP device may receive, from the second MEP device, a second CCM, that includes the MEP identifier of the first MEP device and information indicating that the second interface of the second MEP device is offline. The first MEP device may execute a rule to avoid a deadlock situation based on the second CCM including the MEP identifier of the first MEP device.

    Abstract: A network device may assign, to a port of a plurality of ports on the network device, a precision timing protocol (PTP) port priority for PTP communications between the network device and another network device. The network device and the other network device may be communicatively connected via a plurality of links in a link aggregation group (LAG). Each port, of the plurality of ports, may be associated with a respective link, of the plurality of links, in the LAG. The network device may generate a link layer discovery protocol (LLDP) frame that includes information identifying the PTP port priority assigned to the port. The network device may transmit the LLDP frame to the other network device to identify, to the other network device, the PTP port priority.
