Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for hybrid reference signal transmission in wireless communication. In some embodiments, an apparatus may include assignment logic to assign indices to a first set and a second set; identification logic to identify resource elements for a hybrid reference signal in accordance with a first rule for each index in the first set and in accordance with a second rule for each index in the second set, the second rule different from the first rule; and transmission logic to provide the hybrid reference signal for wireless transmission using a common transmission mode in the identified resource elements.
