An apparatus and a method for determining careless driving are provided and determine more reliable careless driving by generating normal driving patterns using driving performance data for a reference time at the beginning of driving. In addition, careless driving patterns greater than a predetermined number are detected using the normal driving pattern and a boundary between the normal driving and the careless driving is determined using a supervised learning method. The careless driving of the driver is then determined based on the determined boundary.

A method of estimating a front obstacle detection distance includes detecting an obstacle from a front image of a vehicle, extracting coordinates of a lower end portion of a detection box of the detected obstacle, calculating a projected line on real world coordinates based on the extracted coordinates of the lower end portion, searching for a point or a line through which the projected line passes on a detailed map, and calculating a distance to the point or the line through which the projected line passes on the detailed map from a position of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A method and a device for recognizing a pedestrian and a vehicle supporting the same are provided. The method includes collecting, by a controller, a far-infrared image using a far-infrared imaging device and detecting a pedestrian candidate group from the far-infrared image. In addition, the method includes extracting, by the controller, pedestrian features based on previously normalized pedestrian database (DB) learning and comparing the pedestrian features with the pedestrian DB learning results to determine similarity. The controller is configured to perform pedestrian recognition based on the comparison result.

Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for estimating velocity of a vehicle. The apparatus includes a surrounding environment information acquisition unit that acquires surrounding environment information of the vehicle from at least one sensor; a distance information extraction unit that extracts, from the surrounding environment information, distance information between the vehicle and objects in the vicinity of the vehicle; a group setting unit that classifies and groups the distance information according to a preset reference; a velocity calculation unit that calculates relative velocities between the vehicle and the objects for each group set; and a velocity estimation unit that estimates the velocity of the vehicle based on velocity values having the highest generation frequency from among the calculated relative velocities for each group.

A system for identifying road surface conditions includes a road surface measurement sensor attached to a vehicle and configured to generate a measurement signal for a road surface condition, and a controller. The controller is configured to digitalize the measurement signal received from the road surface measurement sensor, calculate a curvature pattern for the road surface condition based on the digitalized measurement signal, and compare the calculated curvature pattern with a pre-stored curvature pattern to identify the road surface condition.
