Abstract:
An electrosurgical system comprising: a handpiece including: a first power connector; a second power connector; and one or more moveable members having a first position and a second position; and an activation circuit having a first switch state and a second switch state, wherein the activation circuit in the first switch state does not allow either a first electrosurgical therapy signal or a second electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece; wherein when the activation circuit is in the second switch state and the one or more moveable members are in the first position the activation circuit allows the first electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece so that a first therapy current extends between the first power connector and the second power connector, and wherein when the activation circuit is in the second switch state and the one or more moveable members are in the second position the activation circuit allows the second electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece so that a second therapy current extends between the first power connector and the second power connector.
Abstract:
A surgical device comprising: a closure assembly comprising: (a) a movement unit including (i) a bar and (ii) a contact element, wherein the bar, the contact element, or both move in a direction of a prescribed motion; (b) a latch unit comprising: (i) a latch plate including: (1) a hook latch that selectively receives the bar, the latch plate being movable between: (A) a lockable state where the hook latch is engageable by the bar, and (B) an unlockable state where the hook latch is unengageable by the bar; (c) an indicator mechanism that moves into alignment with the prescribed motion of the contact element, the bar, or both when the latch unit is in the unlockable state so that the indicator is contacted by the bar, the contacting element, or both generating an indication.
Abstract:
A forceps having a first jaw and a second jaw, where at least one of the first and second jaws is capable of moving between an open position and a closed positions. The forceps including an inner shaft located within an outer shaft and extending along the longitudinal axis, and a drive bar coupled to and extending distally from the inner shaft. The drive bar including a pair of drive bar struts extending from a distal portion of the inner shaft and positioned laterally inward of at least one of first and second set of flanges of the first and second jaws. A drive pin is securable to the pair of drive bar struts and the drive bar is translatable within the outer shaft to translate the drive pin to move the first jaw and/or the second jaw between open and closed positions.
Abstract:
Surgical forceps can include a jaw, a blade, and a tongue. The jaw can include a grip surface defining a slot. The blade can be configured to reciprocate along the slot between an extended position and a retracted position. The tongue can be connected to the jaw where at least a portion of the tongue can be located proximal of the grip surface to guide the blade into the blade slot when the blade moves from the retracted position into the blade slot.
Abstract:
Forceps including a handpiece configured to transfer motion from an actuator to an end effector of the forceps. The handpiece including: a lumen extending through a portion of the handpiece; a sleeve affixed to the handpiece, the sleeve extending through at least a portion of the lumen; and a shaft extending into the sleeve and affixed to the sleeve.
Abstract:
Surgical tool can include an outer shaft, a guide, an end effector, and a drive shaft. The outer shaft can extend along a longitudinal axis. The guide can be connected to the outer shaft. The end effector can include a first jaw connected to the outer shaft distal of the guide and a second jaw pivotably connected to the outer shaft distal of the guide. The drive shaft can be located within the outer shaft and can extend along the longitudinal axis. The drive shaft can be connected to the end effector and the drive shaft can be engageable with the guide to limit movement of the drive shaft with respect to the outer shaft in a direction not parallel with the guide. The drive shaft can be translatable along the outer shaft to operate the end effector.
Abstract:
A medical device is provided that includes a hand piece, a heating power supply, and a therapy power supply. The hand piece includes a first electrode including a heater. The heating power supply selectively provides heating power to the heater. The therapy power supply selectively provides therapeutic power to the first electrode. The medical device is changeable between operating a first electrosurgical configuration and a second electrosurgical configuration. In the first electrosurgical configuration, the heating power supply provides the heating power to the heater to heat the first electrode and the therapy power supply provides the therapeutic power to the first electrode.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical instrument connectivity system providing monopolar and bipolar plugs each having a plurality of conductors which allow for use of combination monopolar/bipolar electrosurgical devices with industry standard electrosurgical generator outlets.
Abstract:
An electrosurgical system comprising: a handpiece including: (a) a first power connector; (b) a second power connector; and (c) one or more moveable members having a first position and a second position; and an activation circuit having a first switch state and a second switch state, wherein the activation circuit in the first switch state does not allow either a first electrosurgical therapy signal or a second electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece; wherein when the activation circuit is in the second switch state and the one or more moveable members are in the first position the activation circuit allows the first electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece so that a first therapy current extends between the first power connector and the second power connector, and wherein when the activation circuit is in the second switch state and the one or more moveable members are in the second position the activation circuit allows the second electrosurgical therapy signal to exit the handpiece so that a second therapy current extends between the first power connector and the second power connector.
