Abstract: A rotation angle sensor has at least three detection elements for detecting a change in a physical quantity corresponding to a rotation position of a detection target, outputs rotation number information of the detection target corresponding to a detection value of at least one of the detection elements, and outputs rotation angle information of the detection target corresponding to the detection values of each of the detection elements as at least one analog signal and at least one digital signal. A control unit has an absolute angle calculation part and an abnormality determination part. The absolute angle calculation part outputs to a control calculation portion an absolute angle calculated using either the analog rotation angle, which is a rotation angle based on an analog signal, or the digital rotation angle, which is a rotation angle based on a digital signal, that is determined to be normal.

Abstract: A sensor device has a sensor unit and a controller. The sensor unit operates partially using battery power through a power supply line when the starting switch is off. The sensor device includes a sensing element that detects changes in physical quantities and a determination circuit that identifies power failures when power is not supplied from the power supply line. The sensor unit also has a communication unit that transmits sensor information, including power failure status. The controller, powered through the starting switch, receives this information, transmits return signals to reset power failure information, performs control operations using the sensor data, and stores power failure information in a non-volatile memory.

Abstract: A sensor device remains partially operational using battery power when the starting switch is off. It includes a sensor input processor with a sensor element that detects changes in physical quantities due to the movement of a detection target. An input processing circuit calculates sensor information based on these detected values. The device also has a memory that stores abnormality information, including power failure data when battery power is not supplied during the switch-off period. A voltage holding circuit on the battery feed line powers the sensor input processor without passing through the starting switch, maintaining sufficient voltage to retain data in memory during temporary battery voltage drops. Additionally, the sensor input processor includes an adjustment circuit that sequentially stops functions other than data retention based on the voltage of the voltage holding circuit when it drops.
