摘要： Described herein is a process of genetic transformation in W. somnifera by Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediated transformation to overexpress squalene synthase gene (WsSQS) encoding WsSQS enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of squalene from farnesyl pyrophosphate. Increased withanolide level including withaferin-A, withanolide A and B and withanone is attained in transformed plant tissues.
