Abstract: A display device that includes: a glass substrate comprising a refractive index (nsubstrate); a display device structure coupled to the substrate to collectively define a viewing area; and a black mask structure surrounding the display device structure that is coupled to the substrate and comprises a black ink layer and at least one glossy layer between the black ink layer and the glass substrate. The viewing area is characterized by (a) a reflectance from 0.5% to 2.5% as measured at 8 degrees from normal in the visible spectrum, (b) a brightness in the CIE colorimetry system such that 5 0.1.

Abstract: A glass article includes a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface separated by a thickness of the glass article. A triple notch color filter is present on the first surface of the glass article and is configured to have a higher transmission of visible light within a blue wavelength region, a green wavelength region, and a red wavelength region than a transmission of visible light outside of the blue wavelength region, the green wavelength region, and the red wavelength region. The blue wavelength region includes wavelengths from 410 nm to 490 nm, the green wavelength region includes wavelengths from 493 nm to 580 nm, and the red wavelength region includes wavelengths from 600 nm to 680 nm.

The second ink layer is configured to counteract deviations in optical transmission caused by the first ink layer so that light transmitted through the deadfront assembly is not perceptively altered in color. Overlapping regions of the first and second ink layers comprise inverse appearance attributes so that light output from a light source and transmitted through the deadfront assembly has a desired appearance.

Abstract: An apparatus includes first, second, and third glass portions, with the third glass portion between the first and the second, where the first, second, and third glass portions are configured in spaced relation from each other. The third glass portion is substantially parallel to the first glass portion. A light source emits light into the third glass portion via an edge of the third glass portion. Light-scattering structures scatter at least a portion of the light emitted by the light source into the third glass portion in a direction substantially perpendicular to a primary face of the third glass portion.
