    Abstract: A sealed bag for containing liquids. Typically made by a blowmolding process from a tube of molten thermoplastic resin. The bag comprises a tubular body of flexible plastic, sealed at one end, and narrowing to an integral tubular neck portion at the other end. A head portion, integral with the neck portion, seals the bag. A tubular recess is formed, typically in the head portion of the bag, for receiving a needle or the like for puncturing the bag to obtain the liquid contents. Generally, the cross section of the bag is oval, and a hanger at one end of the bag is attached thereto at a single station to facilitate collapse of the bag as liquid is withdrawn.

    Abstract: A rotary seal for a centrifuge particularly usable in the process of cell washing for transferring fluid between a rotary member and a stationary member of an apparatus adapted to contain fluids. The rotary seal member comprises a hollow first housing, and a second housing disposed in the first housing in spaced relation therewith to define an annular chamber. One of the housings is rotatable in concentric relation relative to the other housing. A plurality of sealing means are transversely mounted between the first and second housings to divide the annular chamber into several separate sealed portions, and conduits lead from the exterior of both the first and second housings to separate sealed portions of the annular chamber.

    Abstract: A catheter emplacement set comprises a hollow needle which carries a pair of cooperating, gripping flanges in pinching relation. A flexible cover is held in position relative the needle by the gripping flanges. A flexible catheter is slidably mounted in the bore of the needle, and the distal end of the catheter carries means for attaching it to a source of parenteral administration fluid. The needle is breakable into separate pieces for removal from the catheter upon manual pulling apart of the gripping flanges. A lanyard is attached to the distal end of the catheter and passes out of the cover adjacent the needle to facilitate rapid and smooth advancement of the catheter through the needle after emplacement of the needle in a blood vessel or the like.
