Abstract: A monitoring system configured to measure the user's health-related parameters while in a certain state is disclosed. Based on whether the user is in the certain state and/or one or more criteria being met, the monitoring system can perform a physiological measurement such as a blood pressure measurement. The monitoring system can be capable of dynamically adjusting the measurement parameters, criteria, and acquired information based one or more scalers. The criteria can be based on user states or conditions such that user disruptions can be reduced and the measurement accuracy and/or efficiency can be enhanced. The monitoring system can also measure the user's parameters during the measurement and may abort the measurement if the measurement may not have accurate information and/or to reduce any disruption to the user. Alternatively, the measurement can be annotated so that the measurement can be used during data interpretation with certain qualifiers attached.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a blood pressure measurement device that includes a cuff configured to wrap around a limb of a user when the cuff is worn by the user, a bladder coupled to the cuff and configured to compress the limb when inflated, and a pump operative to inflate the bladder. The blood pressure measurement device can also include a valve positioned between the bladder and the pump and configured to operate in a first state that allows air from the pump to enter the bladder and prevent air from leaving the bladder. The valve can also be configured to operate in a second state that allows air to leave the bladder. The blood pressure measurement device can also include a vent positioned between the bladder and an external environment and configured to continuously release air from the bladder.

Abstract: Dual loop strain gauge architectures (or other multiple loop strain gauge architectures) are used to sense an amount of force applied to an electronic device. The force may be applied by a transverse, uneven pressure field, such as a force that is applied by an amorphous object and/or a force that is applied non-uniformly, over a large area and/or to multiple points or areas. In some embodiments, a dual loop (or other multiple loop) strain gauge architecture is used to sense a pressure distribution on an electronic device. In some embodiments, a single loop strain gauge architecture is used to sense an amount of force applied to an electronic device.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a blood pressure measurement device including a cuff that is operative to wrap around a limb of a user, a bladder coupled to the cuff and operative to compress the limb of the user when inflated, and a piezoelectric sensor coupled to the cuff and operative to detect blood flow through the limb of the user and output a signal indicative of the blood flow. The blood pressure measurement device can also include a processor coupled with the piezoelectric sensor that is operative to filter the signal to isolate sounds corresponding to changes in the blood flow through the limb due to inflation of the bladder, correlate the isolated sounds with a pressure inside the bladder, and determine a blood pressure of the user at least partially based on correlating the isolated sounds with the pressure.
