Abstract: A method of operating a procedural training user interface system involves displaying an interactive guided process of a first user using at least one augmented reality (AR) layer through an AR device worn by a second user, where a representation of first user hands is displayed. The second user interactions may be detected during the interactive guided process, where the second user attempts to superimpose second user hands on the representation of the first user hands in the at least one AR layer. The interactive guided process of the second user may then be displayed using the AR layer through an AR device on the first user and the AR device on the second user. If the first user hands and the second user hands are not superimposed in the AR layer, the first user or the second user may be notified to take corrective action.

Abstract: Training sets of images used for training machine vision systems for object recognition may be augmented via various training set augmentation methods. The machine vision systems trained via the augmented training sets may be further used in an augmented reality procedural guidance system for guiding an operator to complete one or more steps with respect to one or more objects. The training set augmentations may include one or more of an object motion augmentation, a camera motion augmentation, an object herding or clumping augmentation, an object size reduction augmentation, a diversified background augmentation, and a diversified background augmentation with synthetic background images. In some instances, machine vision systems may also be alternatively or concurrently trained to use optically distinguishable markers to recognize objects.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for implementing augmented reality and quantify performance enhancement are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes the actions accessing a protocol that specifies a procedure to be performed by an operator wearing an AR/MR/XR device. The actions further include receiving sensor data that reflects characteristics of an environment where the operator wearing the AR/MR/XR device is located. The actions further include determining whether the operator is performing the procedure correctly. The actions further include generating feedback to assist the operator wearing the AR/MR/XR device in determining whether to adjust actions being performed by the operator in performing the procedure. The actions further include outputting the feedback.
