摘要:
A method of replicating surface textures by providing a laminar, dimensionally stable, flexible mold having an impression of the surface texture to be formed on one side thereof, applying a layer of fluid casting material to the flexible mold, and partially curing the resinous material wherein the impression is transferred to the partially cured resinous material. The flexible mold and layer of partially cured resinous material are then secured to a recipient surface, and the material is fully cured, and the flexible mold removed, leaving a surface texture on the recipient surface.

An apparatus for forming surface texture on contoured surfaces includes a laminar, dimensionally stable, flexible mold having an impression of the surface texture to be formed on one side thereof. An adhesive material is provided on the side of the mold opposite that having the impression of the surface texture for adhering the mold to a recipient surface. A plurality of backing strips are provided on the adhesive backed side extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the mold and are individually removable from the mold.

A dressing block for dressing or finishing a work surface has an abrasive surface with abrasive parallel ribs. The ribs of the dressing block are for slidingly engaging a work surface having a pattern of protuberances separated by intersecting recesses. The abrasive surface of the ribs and the grooves between the ribs slidingly engage the protuberances and the recesses to dress the work surface. The user slides the dressing block relative to the work surface in a first direction to engage a first set of the recesses. The user then slides the dressing block in a second direction to engage the second set of recesses.

An improved method for the repair of fiberglass boat hulls by replicating surface textures on the boat hulls is disclosed. A laminar, dimensionally stable, flexible mold is formed having a negative impression of the surface texture to be replicated formed on one side thereof. The laminar, dimensionally stable, flexible mold then is placed atop a recipient boat hull surface and a layer of fluid casting material. Pressure is applied to the laminar, dimensionally stable, flexible mold to expel entrapped gas from the fluid casting material and to evenly distribute the flexible casting material over the recipient hull surface. The fluid casting material is cured, and the laminar, dimensionally stable, flexible mold is removed. A replica of the surface texture remains on the recipient boat hull surface.
