摘要:
An electronic material instrument includes a tone generator for synthesizing tones by using a number of time-division multiplexed (TDM) modules, an input unit for programming a connection configuration (tone synthesis algorithm) for the modules of each module pair, and a processing unit for converting the input program into control data for each module and transferring the control data to the tone generator. In one embodiment, each module pair is selectively operative in an addition mode, a phase mode or a ring modulation mode, independently of the modes selected for the other module pairs. It is thus possible to attain a tone synthesis desired by the user, and to make the best use of the capacity of the tone generator.

In playing a music, the present electronic musical instrument stores a code for a performance event and data of generation time length until a presently-specified performance event is regenerated, in a sequencer memory. For each playback access to this sequencer memory, a performance event is excecuted upon elapse of a time corresponding to the generation time interval data of the performance event read out from the memory. For instance, a musical tone which is generated by depression of a key on a keyboard, is generated again with the designated pitch after a given time.

A key scaling apparatus includes a reference data input device which is operated by a user of an electronic musical instrument to designate at least three different key numbers together with respective key scaling data for those key numbers. When a key number is supplied from a play input device such as a keyboard in the electronic musical instrument, an interpolator computes key scaling data for that key number from the data designated by the reference data input device. The computed key scaling data serve to control a tone parameter such as an envelope level which is then used in a tone generator to develop a tone for that key number. Accordingly, a satisfactory key scaling response is obtained over the entire pitch range of keyboard.

The addresses of memory positions in a RAM stored with a series of tone data corresponding to a preselected musical piece, are sequentially stepped by a backward key or a forward key in the backward or forward direction, and the tone corresponding to the tone data stored in a stepped address is generated, for each actuation of the corresponding key, under the control of CPU. Upon actuation of a delete key, the tone corresponding to the tone data stored in an address preceding the currently stepped address by one, is generated through the controlling operation of the CPU. Subsequently, the tone data stored in an address succeeding by one the current address is written into that address, and the tone data of the addresses succeeding the address having its content written are sequentially shifted by one address in the backward direction, respectively.

The present invention relates to an electronic musical instrument with a fret-split function, which is used in electronic stringed instruments such as an electronic guitar, electronic violin, guitar synthesizer. Fingering areas provided on a finger-board are divided on the basis of a particular fret among a plurality of frets provided on the fingering areas. Specific tone colors are assigned to these fingering areas thus divided, respectively. Fingering operation on fingering areas to which specific tone colors are assigned allows to generate a musical tone having a tone color previously assigned.
