More specifically, embodiments provide an effective and efficient mechanism for reducing APIC interference with accesses to SMRAM, where processor modifications implementing this mechanism effectively reduce APIC attacks and increase the security of proprietary, confidential or otherwise secure data stored in SMRAM.
