Biologic matrix for a wound site and related methods
摘要:
A method for augmenting a void or treating a wound in a body cavity involves applying a three-dimensional, resorbable collagen scaffold derived from a vascularized portion of a perfusion-decellularized mammalian tissue or organ to the site of the void or body cavity. The scaffold can be applied to the site of the void or body cavity in a way that ensures at least three surfaces or five surfaces of the scaffold come into contact with the surrounding body tissue. The scaffold contains numerous pores, resulting in a larger surface area compared to a scaffold without pores of the same outer dimensions. Additionally, the method includes releasing an antimicrobial agent into the surrounding body tissue to inhibit infection. The antimicrobial agent, such as silver nanoparticles, methylene blue, or iodine-based compounds, is perfused into the scaffold's vascular pathways following its perfusion decellularization.
