Methods, systems, and devices for enhanced carrier aggregation techniques described. For example, component carrier groups including multiple component carriers may be configured. In some cases, each component carrier group may be configured to include 2n component carriers. Also, component carriers may be managed on a per component carrier group basis. In some cases, a single management message may be used to communicate management information for a component carrier group. Similarly, a single control message may be used to communicate control information, such as physical layer parameters, for a component carrier group.
