The method comprises: (1) carrying out high-pressure homogenization treatment on a mixed solution of carotenoid as a raw material and a tobacco solvent as a dispersing agent to obtain a homogenized solution, wherein the raw material accounts for 0.1-15% of the mass of the dispersing agent, the pressureof the high-pressure homogenization treatment is 10-200 MPa, and the temperature of the high-pressure homogenization treatment is -20 DEG C to 0 DEG C; and (2) blending the homogenized solution and essence to obtain the essence containing carotenoid. According to the invention, the undissolved or insoluble carotenoid is dispersed in the common solvent of tobacco through the simple and convenient method, so that the application of the carotenoid in tobacco perfuming is realized, and the method has important practical significance.
