In one embodiment, a method for detecting malicious software agents, such as domain-flux botnets. The method applies a co-clustering algorithm on a domain-name query failure graph, to generate a hierarchical grouping of hosts based on similarities between domain names queried by those hosts, and divides that hierarchical structure into candidate clusters based on percentages of failed queries having at least first- and second-level domain names in common, thereby identifying hosts having correlated queries as possibly being infected with malicious software agents. A linking algorithm is used to correlate the co-clustering results generated at different time periods to differentiate actual domain-flux bots from other domain-name failure anomalies by identifying candidate clusters that persist for relatively long periods of time. Persistent candidate clusters are analyzed to identify which clusters have malicious software agents, based on a freshness metric that characterizes whether the candidate clusters continually generate failed queries having new domain names.

A system and method for delivering content objects over the Internet to an end user system with a content delivery network (CDN) is disclosed. The system and method allow for dynamically serving content objects by loading and/or reconfiguring publishing points upon receipt of an end user request. When a content object is requested by an end user media player, the request is assigned to an edge server within a particular POP of the CDN. The peer-discovery algorithm first determines whether the publishing point associated with the requested content object is loaded into the edge server. Alternatively, the peer-discovery algorithm queries other edge servers within or remote from the particular POP to determine whether the request for content object is mapped by other edge servers to a content source using their respective publishing points. Once the content source for the requested content object is determined, the edge server reconfigures its publishing point toward the content source. Ultimately, the content object is streamed to the end user media player. Management of the publishing points avoids performance degradations on the edge server in some embodiments.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for using search entity transition probabilities. In some implementations, data identifying entities and transition probabilities between entities is stored in a computer readable medium. Each transition probability represents a strength of a relationship between a pair of entities as they are related in search history data. Scoring data for documents responsive to the different query is modified to favor newer documents. In other implementations, data identifying a first session as spam is received, and a spam score is calculated for either a second session of queries or a single query using transition probabilities. The second session (or single query) is identified as spam from the spam score.

A partial matching scheme is used for mapping points defining the shorter one of the two curves to a set of mapped points on the longer one. One or more offsets from the first point of the longer curve are used for multiple attempts to find a best fit.

A reference voltage adjustment unit (212) calculates gain from a DA converter (121) to an offset calculating unit (123) by detecting the output of the offset calculating unit (123), adjusts the reference voltage (V3) from a reference voltage generation unit (211) so that the value becomes a predetermined value, and feeds the post-adjustment reference voltage (V4) to the DA converter (121) and offset calculating unit (123). Due to this, the gain from the DA converter (121) to the offset calculating unit (123) can be corrected. Fluctuation in the lower limit level of the output of a differential-to-single conversion unit (124) can be minimized as a result, so, the addition of unnecessary offset to the amplitude data at the amplifier unit (140) can be minimized. Thus, deterioration in modulation characteristics when the amplitude control unit (210) takes a differential circuit configuration can be minimized.

Cognitive radio adaptation is employed in WSNs to reduce effects of RF interference. Communication channel quality is assessed locally at each node. Using beacons to propagate channel quality and node related information among the nodes of the network, channel adaptation decision is made either centrally by identifying a channel that is optimum for a majority of nodes through a tree-structure dissemination (Majority Voting Scheme) or in a distributed manner by identifying a channel where maximum interference for any node is less than maximum interference on the other channels (Veto Voting Scheme). If two channels have the same level of maximal interference, the channel with a lesser number is chosen. Channel quality assessment may be optimized based on expected interference type and/or statistical methods.

A wireless network access point is described which provides the resources of a backbone network to wireless clients. The access point is able to detect a degraded condition on the backbone network. Upon detecting the degraded condition, the access point selectively dissociates clients on the wireless network. In order to select which clients are dissociated first, a predetermined client dissociation policy is established. The policy can include account priority, bandwidth utilization, elapsed time since last transfer, and, amongst other criteria, whether the client is currently transferring in peer-to-peer mode on the wireless network. Upon detecting the degraded condition, either immediately or after a predetermined delay to ensure that the degraded condition is not temporary, clients on the wireless network are dissociated according to the preestablished policy.

The antenna also includes a screen which is configured at least substantially around the RF element. The screen includes a plurality of integrated switches which may be configured to allow the operating mode of the screen to be selectively and automatically switched between a transmissive mode and a reflective mode. When the screen is operating in the transmissive mode, the antenna is configured to provide an omni-directional beam. When the screen is operating in the reflective mode, the antenna is configured to provide a directional beam.
The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for providing directional spectral awareness via an antenna system which includes a single parasitic antenna and a processor, the processor being communicatively coupled with the parasitic antenna. The antenna system allows for quick scanning of all sectors included in a plurality of sectors of an RF environment being monitored by the antenna system. The antenna system also allows for monitoring sectors of interest. The directionality of the parasitic antenna of the antenna system may reduce interference and multipath along with providing improved SNR due to antenna gain, thereby allowing for collection of signals of interest in a more favorable environment, thereby enabling analysis such as frequency and spatial use, signal detection, signal identification, and source geolocation to succeed when it may have failed if an omni-directional antenna were used.
An analogue to digital converter is arranged to receive and process an analogue optical input signal to produce an N bit digital optical output signal quantised to 2N levels, where N is greater than or equal to 2. The converter has an input for receiving the optical input signal and N processing channels which are each coupled to the input, at least one of said processing channels comprising an optical processing circuit arranged to generate a plurality of digital optical output signals. The optical processing circuit is arranged to change the state of each digital optical output signal corresponding to a respective different value of the analogue optical input signal, and an optical combining circuit for combining the optical output signals in order to generate one bit of the N-bit digital optical signal.
The invention provides a systematic error correction network coupled to a converter. The converter may display a systematic non-linearity error, and the systematic error correction network shapes a correction transform function that acts like counter distortion function for the non-linearity error. The systematic error correction network then scales the correction transform function according to a reference variable, where the magnitude of non-linearity error is related to the reference variable. The scaled correction transform function is then applied to the converter path in order to generate a corrected analog output signal.
