    Abstract: A switch assembly and a method of effecting a battery to initiate. The switch assembly includes a support that is adapted to operably engage with a battery. The switch assembly also include a slide operably engaged with the support and moveable in a first direction relative to the support between a primed position and a released position. The switch assembly also includes a cover operably engaged with the support and enclosing the slide. The switch assembly also includes a firing pin mechanism operably engaged with the support, the slide, and the cover and moveable in a second direction relative to the slide and the support. In the switch assembly, the second direction of the firing pin mechanism is different than the first direction of the slide.

    Abstract: A switching apparatus includes one or more electric pole units, each electric pole unit comprising a fixed contact, a movable contact, a first pole terminal, a second pole terminal, and a motion transmission arrangement to reversibly move the movable contact. The motion transmission arrangement includes a conductive motion transmission member coupled to the movable contact. The first pole terminal is in electrical connection to the fixed contact while the second pole terminal includes a first coupling region in electrical connection with a second coupling region of the conductive motion transmission member. Each electric pole unit further includes a shielding element formed by a conductive hollow body and arranged in a relative fixed position with respect to the second pole terminal and the motion transmission member. The shielding element is arranged to at least partially surround the first coupling and the second coupling region.

    Abstract: A high voltage electric disconnect switch having a rotatable switch blade in operative arrangement with a rotatable high voltage electrical insulator. A rotating bearing assembly in operative supporting arrangement with a rotatable shaft. The bearing assembly containing corrodible ball bearing assemblies including associated corrodible ball bearing races. The rotatable insulator is operatively mounted to the rotatable shaft. The rotatable shaft has a lower rotatable shaft portion contacting the corrodible ball bearing assemblies housed within a sealed housing of the bearing assembly. An air permeable hydrophobic membrane mounted in a membrane assembly is mounted in an aperture of the housing to eliminate condensing humidity within the housing, thereby preventing corrosion of the corrodible ball bearings and races, freezing water, and lubrication degradation by keeping the surfaces dry to prevent switch failure.

    Abstract: A stored energy-type circuit breaker includes a sensor that operates as a full open sensor, and that is used to prevent the circuit breaker from closing in response to either a closing signal or a manual operation. The full open sensor exhibits a first output condition when the moveable contact is in a fully open position and a second output condition when the moveable contact begins to leave the fully open position. An electronic trip unit (ETU) is electrically connected to the sensor and, when in a close break mode, blocks the circuit breaker from closing. The ETU does this by, upon detecting that the sensor is in the second output condition, generating a signal that will cause the breaker's opening spring to return the moveable contact to the fully open position.

    Abstract: A switch includes an operating member and three contacts (first, second and third contacts). The operating member displaces between a first and a second positions. A state of the three contacts is switched between a first and a second states by displacement of the operating member. Each contact connects or disconnects a signal line in the first state, and puts, in the second state, the signal line into a state reverse to the first stat. In course of the displacement of the operating member from the first position to the second position, the first contact switches from the first state to the second state, the second contact switches from the first state to the second state after switching of the first contact, and the third contact switches from the second state to the first state at a timing between switching of the first contact and switching of the second contact.
