摘要: Although internal combustion engines typically waste about 75% of their fuel energy, this invention can provides 31% or more brake horsepower than the engine alone by using anhydrous organic racing engine coolant or other anhydrous organic heat transfer fluid arranged to spiral around a combustion chamber until heated to over 250° C. without boiling while exceeding the boiling point of a separate working fluid that is heated by coolant then superheated by exhaust gas before entering a unique positive displacement vapor expander engine having a piston connected by a clutch to a driveshaft that is also driven by the combustion engine to create a high efficiency direct mechanical powertrain which avoids losses of about 15% had a generator charged a battery powering an electric motor-generator connected for regenerative braking to charge batteries. Highly elevated coolant temperatures also reduce cylinder and exhaust temperatures to lower emission toxicity while preventing lubricant burnout.

The waste heat recovery system comprises, in addition to a heater configured to circulate a working fluid in heat exchange relationship with a heating fluid from the heat source to heat the working fluid, an independent auxiliary heat source configured to provide an additional heating fluid in heat exchange relationship with the working fluid, to heat the working fluid. The system is provided with a secondary heater, which is configured to circulate the working fluid in heat exchange relationship with the additional heating fluid from the independent auxiliary heat source and which can be used to replace the heater or in combination with the heater.

摘要: Various embodiments include a system for transmitting heat from an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine to a working medium comprising: a first heat exchanger connected to the exhaust gas; a second heat exchanger connected to the working medium and the first heat exchanger; and a heat transmission medium arranged in a predetermined heat exchanger volume and substantially completely in a liquid state with a predetermined volume of heat transmission medium at room temperature and normal pressure. The heat exchangers define the hermetically sealed heat exchanger volume. The heat transmission medium transmits heat from the exhaust gas to the working medium. A ratio between the predetermined volume of the heat transmission medium and the predetermined heat exchanger volume is set such that the heat transmission medium is substantially completely in a gaseous state when a temperature of the exhaust gas exceeds a threshold value.

摘要: An engine cooling system comprises an engine cooling circuit, comprising a first pump structured to circulate engine coolant fluid therethrough. A remote coolant radiator positioned along the engine cooling circuit downstream of the engine and outside of a vehicle cooling package area is structured to transfer heat from the engine coolant fluid to air. A coolant heat exchanger is positioned along the engine cooling circuit in parallel to the remote coolant radiator. The coolant heat exchanger is positioned along the working fluid circuit and is structured to transfer heat from the engine coolant fluid to the working fluid. An expander is structured to convert energy from the heat transferred to the working fluid from the engine cooling fluid to mechanical energy. A condenser positioned downstream of the expander is structured to cool the working fluid.

Various tubular adapters are adapted to the external dimensions of the heat exchangers and are used to fasten the associated heat exchanger at its connection ends to the exhaust gas carrying housing. Furthermore, a tubular adapter for a corresponding modular system and a vehicle which has a corresponding exhaust heat recovery device are provided.
