    Abstract: A brake caliper diagnostic device for railway vehicles according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes an internal pressure sensor located between a brake hose for delivering brake oil or compressed air to the brake caliper and an inlet of the brake caliper, internal temperature sensors respectively installed in the air breathers respectively located above and below the brake caliper, an assembly plate temperature sensor located adjacent to a brake pad assembly, a piston temperature sensor located on a surface of a brake caliper body adjacent to a piston, and a brake caliper monitoring device configured to determine whether or not the brake caliper is abnormal, based on data received from the internal pressure sensor, the internal temperature sensors, the assembly plate temperature sensor, and the piston temperature sensor.

    Abstract: The wireless relay device according to the present disclosure includes: a reception unit to receive train control information; an information classification unit to classify the train control information into first control information requiring immediacy and second control information not requiring immediacy; a message generation unit to generate one message from the first control information contained in a piece of the train control information and to generate one message from a plurality of pieces of the second control information contained in a plurality of pieces of the train control information; and a transmission unit to transmit the messages generated by the message generation unit. With this configuration, it is possible to reduce the number of the data transfer messages which does not require immediacy while the instantaneous communication for the control information which requires immediacy is maintained.

    Abstract: A system and method for providing a virtual approach signal restriction upgrade between physical signaling components is presented. In one embodiment, in a CTC type of operation, the use of a virtual signal with signal type functionality to split a block into two or more sections can allow a train currently governed by an approach indication to accelerate on a clear indication if the advance signal indication upgrades. The addition of audio frequency type circuits with the advance signal indication can allow a train to upgrade from a restricting indication to an approach or clear indication, while protecting open HT switches, broken rail, hazards, and follow up moves. The present invention provides a system for allowing trains to upgrade from a “restricting” indication to an “approach” or “clear and accelerate” indication with an upgraded PTC track line for the segment.

    Abstract: A method for measuring a parameter relevant to a journey of a rail vehicle. A parameter measurement value is determined using a control loop. A vehicle-side torque acting on a rotational part on the vehicle side is ascertained. A calculation module uses the vehicle-side torque value and a frictional engagement torque acting between the rotational part and a rail, to calculate a rotational acceleration of the rotational part and an expected rotational speed. A difference between the rotational estimated value and an actual rotational speed is supplied to a control device which outputs a controller output value at the output side. A frictional engagement torque value is recalculated with the controller output value and is coupled back into the computer module to close the control loop. The controller output and/or the recalculated frictional engagement torque value is considered the parameter measurement value, which is stored or output.

    Abstract: A method identifies and verifies control software of a rail vehicle. In the method, the control software is formed by functions, with each function fulfilling an associated task. As a networked collective, the functions form the structure of the control program. A function-dependent checksum is generated for each function. A structure-dependent checksum is generated for the structure. A total checksum is generated for the control software from the function-dependent checksums and the structure-dependent checksum. This total checksum identifies and verifies the control software for homologation in a country.

    Abstract: A system may include a sensor that detects positioning data indicative of a position of a first coupler of a first vehicle system and positioning data indicative of a position of a second coupler of a second vehicle system during a coupling event of the vehicle systems. A controller includes one or more processors that receive the positioning data of the first and second couplers and determines whether the first coupler is misaligned with the second coupler. The controller may initiate an action of the first coupler, the second coupler, the first vehicle system, or the second vehicle system to change a position of the first coupler, the second coupler, the first vehicle system, or the second vehicle system. Changing the position of the first coupler, the second coupler, the first vehicle system, or the second vehicle system aligns the first coupler with the second coupler.
