Abstract: An image obtaining section of an information processing apparatus obtains polarized light images in a plurality of directions from an imaging device provided to a moving body. A polarization degree obtaining section of an image analyzing section obtains a degree of polarization on the basis of direction dependence of luminance of polarized light. A high polarization degree region evaluating section detects the peripheral edge of a play field on which the moving body is present, by evaluating the shape of a high polarization degree region having degrees of polarization higher than a threshold value in a state in which the high polarization degree region is overlooked. An output data generating section generates and outputs output data for avoiding movement to the peripheral edge.

Abstract: The invention relates to an optical measuring method for the three-dimensional detection of the surface of an object using an optical recording unit. The optical recording unit is moved relative to the object during a first measurement time interval, height maps are successively detected by the recording unit at a recording frequency, and at least some of the detected height maps are each added to an overall height map and displayed. The recording frequency is regulated by control signals during the measurement time interval. The control signals are generated spaced apart in time and for the purposes of producing each control signal, a statistic for the quality of the height map is determined for the respectively last detected height image and used for producing the control signal. The statistic is the overall intensity and/or the maximum intensity and/or the contrast and/or the number of extracted data points and/or a quality of extracted data points and/or the signal-to-noise ratio and/or the contrast of an additionally generated color image.

Abstract: A system and method for compensating for reflections caused by light-generating objects in the scene facing a display device includes capturing images of the scene. Reflection-inducting zones corresponding to the light generating objects are identified from the captured images. The reflection effect on the display device from the reflection-inducing zones are estimated. A target image to be displayed on the display device is adjusted based on the estimated reflection effect.

Abstract: A flying drone for inspecting surfaces able to reflect light has a lighting device formed of two light sources each having a shape that is elongate in a longitudinal direction of each of the light sources, two first image acquisition devices, and a second image acquisition device between the two first image acquisition devices. The two light sources are respectively between the second image acquisition device and each of the first image acquisition devices. The flying drone allows effective detection of dents in surfaces by analyzing specular reflections, by the lighting device and of the first image acquisition devices, and effective detection of superficial defects on surfaces by the second image acquisition device, with the lighting device switched off.

The ground material density measurement system may receive a moisture measurement associated with an amount of moisture on a ground surface of a section of ground material. The ground material density measurement system may determine a GPR measurement associated with the section of ground material. The ground material density measurement system may process the GPR measurement based on the moisture measurement to account for the amount of moisture. The ground material density measurement system may provide density information associated with the section of ground material based on the processed GPR measurement.

Abstract: A control device assumes that observation light observed by an imaging device is composite light of primary reflection light and secondary reflection light. The control device acquires three or more samples of a brightness amplitude value of the observation light, calculates a phase error caused by the secondary reflection light using these samples, calculates a corrected phase value by correcting a phase value of the observation light using the phase error, and calculates a three-dimensional position of the measurement point on the measurement object based on the corrected phase value.

Abstract: A respective target viewpoint may be rendered for each of a plurality of multiplane images of a three-dimensional scene. Each of the multiplane images may be associated with a respective single plane image of the three-dimensional scene captured from a respective viewpoint. Each of the multiplane images may include a respective plurality of depth planes. Each of the depth planes may include a respective plurality of pixels from the respective single plane image. Each of the pixels in the depth plane may be positioned at approximately the same distance from the respective viewpoint. A weighted combination of the target viewpoint renderings may be determined, where the sampling density of the single plane images is sufficiently high that the weighted combination satisfies the inequality in Equation (7). The weighted combination of the target viewpoint renderings may be transmitted as a novel viewpoint image.

Abstract: A head mounted display comprises an eye tracking system configured to enable eye tracking using polarization. The eye tracking system includes one or more illumination sources and an optical detector comprising polarization sensitive pixels. The one or more illumination sources are configured to illuminate a user's eye and generate reflections directed towards the optical detector. The eye tracking system determines, for each polarization sensitive pixel in a subset of the polarization sensitive pixels, one or more estimation parameters. The eye tracking system determines, for the subset of the polarization sensitive pixels, depth information for one or more glints associated with one or more surfaces of the eye, based in part on the polarization of the reflections and the one or more estimation parameters. The determined depth information is used to update a model of the eye. The eye tracking system determines eye tracking information based on the updated model.

Abstract: An imaging device includes: a light source that applies light at a timing according to a light emission control signal; a light receiver that performs exposure to reflected light from an object at different timings according to an exposure control signal, and outputs exposure signals generated as a result of the exposure; a calculator that calculates a distance to the object; and a controller that outputs the light emission control signal and the exposure control signal for any of: modulating a length of a light emission period and an exposure period by increasing or decreasing the number of pulses of each of the light emission control signal and the exposure control signal; and modulating a repetition sequence of the light emission period and the exposure period while maintaining a phase relationship between the light emission control signal and the exposure control signal, randomly or in conformity with a specific rule.
