    Abstract: A coupling arrangement is provided and includes a first component, a second component, a press-on element, and an actuating unit, such that the second component can be displaced from a first position to a second position. The actuating unit includes an actuator and a lever rotatably mounted in the second component about an axis of rotation perpendicular to a longitudinal axis and having a contact surface to contact a fixed mating surface. The contact surface and/or the mating surface has a convex curvature, and the actuator and the lever cooperate such that the movement of the actuator along the longitudinal axis is converted into movement of the lever on the mating surface, and such that the second component is displaced along the longitudinal axis in the second position.

    Abstract: Some embodiments of a fan clutch system may drive an output member to rotate at a first speed when opposing friction clutch surfaces are engaged and to rotate at a second, slower speed when the friction clutch surfaces are shifted to a disengaged position. In particular embodiments, the multi-speed clutch system may employ an eddy current drive system that is arranged axially rearward of the friction clutch surfaces while the fan blade device is mounted in a position that is axially forward of the of the friction clutch surfaces.

    Abstract: A clutch drive (10) includes a spindle (16) mounting a driving member (94) and a driven member (126) for rotation about the spindle (16). The driving member (94) includes a pressure plate (96) which moves axially along the spindle (16) to engage and disengage from the driven member (122). Disengagement of the pressure plate (96) is effected by a piston and cylinder mechanism (34, 52) operated by compressed air. A plurality of circumferentially spaced springs (106) yieldably urge the pressure plate (96) into engagement with the driven member (126). A drive link (112) interconnects adjacent springs (106) to form a link through which driving torques are transmitted. The drive link (112) is curved, so that shock loads created upon engagement of the clutch are absorbed by straightening the drive link (112).

    Abstract: In a hoist, a Weston type brake mechanism is formed with a friction disk integral with the load shaft, and the driving element of the Weston brake mechanism as well as the ratcheted locking disk of the brake are mounted for rotation in the axis of the load shaft and are effective through the integral friction disk to control the load shaft directly so as to control the load at all times. The driving element of the Weston brake mechanism is made of two parts, one of which is a gear in frictional relationship to the other part, and held assembled thereto by means entirely contained between the two parts so that they function effectively as one. Any failure in the frictional relationship will not affect the functioning of the Weston brake mechanism to control the load.

    Abstract: In some examples, a cone clutch assembly includes an inner cone member rotationally coupled to a first shaft, the inner cone member defining a first friction surface, and an outer cone member rotationally coupled to a second shaft, the outer cone member defining a second friction surface opposing the first friction surface. The inner cone member and outer cone member are configured to be selectively engage and disengaged from each other. When the inner cone member is engaged with the outer cone member, the first friction surface of the inner cone member frictionally engages the second friction surface of the outer cone member such that rotational motion is transferred between the inner cone member and the outer cone member. The inner surface of the inner cone member opposing the first friction surface includes at least one groove configured to receive a cooling fluid during operation of the cone clutch assembly.

    Abstract: A shifting device for a motor vehicle is described, comprising a first coupling component which is adapted to be selectively rotationally coupled to a second coupling component with a form-fit. In an open state, the first coupling component is rotationally decoupled from the second coupling component. In a frictional fit state, the coupling components are rotationally coupled with a frictional fit via a first frictional fit ring and a second frictional fit ring.     Abstract: A ratchet lever hoist (10) which includes an overload clutch (19) enclosed within the hoist handwheel (16). The handwheel is driven through a spline connection with the input drive hub (24) of the hoist, and carries a plurality of first clutch disks 94. Second clutch disks (100) are carried by a load brake drive member (34) and frictionally engage the clutch disks (94) through friction disks (106) bonded to the second clutch disks (100). The clutch is preloaded to a torque capacity corresponding to the rated load of the hoist or a predetermined value over the rated load, such that the clutch will slip, preventing rotation of the load brake drive member when the torque capacity of the clutch is exceeded.
