Abstract: In one example, an apparatus comprises: a first photodiode to generate a first charge; a second photodiode to generate a second charge; a quantizer; a first memory bank and a second memory bank; and a controller configured to: control the quantizer to perform a first quantization operation and a second quantization operation of the first charge to generate, respectively, a first digital output and a second digital output, the first and second quantization operations being associated with different intensity ranges; store one of the first digital output or the second digital output in the first memory bank; control the quantizer to perform a third quantization operation of the second charge to generate a third digital output, the third quantization operation being associated with a different intensity range from at least one of the first or second quantization operations; and store the third digital output in the second memory bank.

Abstract: An omnidirectional camera apparatus configured to facilitate omnidirectional stereo imaging is described. The apparatus may include a first convex mirror, a first camera disposed at the first convex mirror, a second convex mirror, and a second camera disposed at the second convex mirror. The first convex mirror and the second convex mirror may be arranged such that a first mirrored surface of the first convex mirror and a second mirrored surface of the second convex mirror may face each other. The first camera may capture imagery reflected off the second convex mirror. The second camera may capture imagery reflected off the first convex mirror. A method of calibrating an omnidirectional camera apparatus is also described.

Abstract: A method and device for capturing a mixed structured-light image and regular image using an integrated image sensor are disclosed, where the structured-light image is captured using a shorter frame period than the regular image. In order to achieve a shorter frame period for the structured-light image, the structured-light image may correspond to an image captured with reduced dynamic range, reduced spatial resolution, or a combination of them. The capturing process comprises applying reset signals to a pixel array to reset rows of pixels of the pixel array, reading-out analog signals from the rows of pixels of the pixel array and converting the analog signals from the rows of pixels of the pixel array into digital outputs for the image using one or more analog-to-digital converters.

Abstract: A system for displaying virtual content to a user includes at least one light source to multiplex a plurality of light beams to display a respective plurality of light patterns associated with one or more frames of image data. The system also includes a plurality of waveguides to receive the plurality of light beams and to direct the plurality of light beams toward an exit pupil, wherein the plurality of waveguides are stacked along an optical axis of the user. The system further includes at least one optical element to modify a focus of a light beam of the plurality of light beams directed by the plurality of waveguides.

Abstract: With a conventional stereoimage capturing device, it has been difficult to simply determine the present of a depth. An image capturing device includes an image capturing element in which a first parallax pixel group and a second parallax pixel group that output a first parallax image and a second parallax image, respectively, to cause a parallax are arranged at mutually different positions. The image capturing device computes a differential pixel value of each of a plurality of second parallax output pixels in the second parallax image positioned around a target pixel that is a first parallax output pixel of the first parallax image, the differential pixel value being computed with reference to the target pixel, and generates differential data in which a direction of each of the plurality of second parallax output pixels with reference to the target pixel is associated with the corresponding differential pixel value.
