Abstract: Agricultural seed planting systems include a processing unit, a frame, a furrow opener coupled to the frame for opening a furrow in soil, and a sensor in communication with the processing unit and adapted to sense a characteristic associated with seed planting. The sensor may generate a signal associated with the sensed characteristic and the processing unit may receive the signal. In some aspects, the sensed characteristic may be either a soil characteristic or a seed characteristic. Information associated with the sensed characteristic can be saved in memory for future use and to assist with more effective planting in the future.

Abstract: An agricultural seed planter is provided. The agricultural seed planter has a large diameter rotating planting wheel with fingers or teeth spaced around the periphery of the planting wheel. The teeth are positioned so as to achieve a spacing of the seeds when planted in the soil. The teeth have a small dimple in the end and an even smaller hole passing through the entire length. The dimple provides a place for the seed to sit in and the small hole allows positive or negative air pressure to be transmitted to the seed. The negative air pressure creates a vacuum suction that attaches the seed to the teeth, and the positive air pressure releases the seed from the teeth. In an example implementation, the wheel includes many individual mechanical modules that are linked together to form the wheel.

The closing link is configured to pivotally couple to the frame and the actuator is configured to drive the closing link to rotate relative to the frame to control a closing depth of a closing disc rotatably coupled to the closing link. The sensor is configured to output a sensor signal indicative of an extension length of the actuator. The controller is communicatively coupled to the sensor, and the controller is configured to determine the extension length of the actuator based on the sensor signal.

Abstract: A system for a row unit of a planting implement includes a frame. A closing system is operably coupled with the frame.
