    Abstract: A washing machine tub lock device is provided that prevents the wash tub from impacting the washing machine cabinet during shipping and handling. The tub lock device is formed by cutting and folding a corrugated blank into an inverted truncated rectangular cone that can be wedged inside the top portion of the washing machine tub. The tub lock device includes hanging tabs which prevent the tub lock device from falling into the wash tub during shipping and handling. The tub lock device also includes elliptical tabs which bend or deform into elliptical cutouts such that the edges of the elliptical cutouts are covered, thus preventing the elliptical cutouts from damaging the washing machine during shipping and handling.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible membrane lid for a container comprising a top paper layer which is perforated to form a perimeter of at least one peelable portion and a bottom film layer. In some embodiments, the bottom film layer is partially adhered to the top paper layer, wherein the layers are not adhered within the perimeter of the peelable portion. In other embodiments, the layers are adhered with a pressure sensitive adhesive within the perimeter of the peelable portion and with a permanent adhesive in the remainder of the area between the top paper layer and bottom film layer. In other embodiments, the invention relates to a flexible membrane lid for a container comprising a top paper layer comprising a pull tab and a bottom film layer which is removably adhered to the top paper layer, wherein bottom film layer comprises a separate pull tab.

    Abstract: A resealable package and method for making is provided. The package may comprise a laminate lidding member having an outer structure, an inner structure joined to the outer structure by an adhesive layer, and a pull tab. The laminate includes an outer line of weakness in the outer structure defining a separable opening portion and an inner line of weakness in the inner structure, defining a separable opening portion from the inner portion. The lidding member also comprises a second inner line of weakness formed in the inner structure, disposed between the pull tab and the inner opening portion, partially within the flange seal.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, the invention comprises a wrapper with dead bend characteristics. The wrapper comprises a first polyethylene layer comprising low density polyethylene; a second polyethylene layer affixed to the first layer, wherein the second polyethylene layer comprises high density polyethylene; a first tie layer affixed to the second layer, opposite the first layer; a barrier layer affixed to the tie layer, opposite the second layer; a second tie layer affixed to the barrier layer, opposite the first tie layer; a third polyethylene layer affixed to the second tie layer, opposite the barrier layer, wherein the third polyethylene layer comprises high density polyethylene; and a fourth polyethylene layer affixed to the third polyethylene layer, opposite the second tie layer, wherein the fourth polyethylene layer comprises low density polyethylene. In an embodiment, the tie layers and the barrier layer may be substituted with a cyclic olefin copolymer layer.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a one-way valve for a flexible package which comprises a first film layer having at least one first cut line and a second film layer having at least one second cut line, wherein the lines are offset from one another. An adhesive layer is disposed between the film layers. The film layers and the adhesive layer define a valve area wherein the first film layer and the second film layer are not permanently adhered to each other. The second cut line fluidly connects the interior of the flexible package to the valve area and the first cut line fluidly connects the valve area to the ambient atmosphere surrounding the flexible package. The adhesive pattern within the valve area creates a gas flow channel from the second cut line toward the first cut line.

    Abstract: A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening/reclose and tamper-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tear portion that is torn through upon initial opening, thus indicating the package has been at least partially opened.
