    摘要: A frogging signal repeater for a transmission line communications system such as a telephone system having a trunk line connected between a pair of signal sources such as end central offices and/or standard signal repeaters. Each signal source generates information signals on a group of relatively high frequency carrier signals and receives information signals on a group of relatively low frequency carrier signals with the frogging signal repeater connected in the trunk line for translating the high and low frequency groups. The repeater includes means responsive to a high frequency group signal from one signal source for generating a coordination reference signal representing the length of the transmission line between the repeater and the one signal source and means responsive to the coordination reference signal and the high frequency group signals from the other signal source for generating the low frequency group signals to the one signal source whereby the low frequency group signals arrive at the one signal source at a predetermined magnitude.

    摘要: A receiver in a transmission line communications system, such as a telephone system, receives a carrier signal having upper and lower sidebands. Typically, the carrier signal is modulated with message information signals and the upper sideband is modulated with signaling signals. A sideband cancellation circuit is utilized to cancel the lower sideband which is modulated with the unwanted signaling signals for the upper sideband of the next lower carrier signal in a multi-channel telephone system. The modulated carrier and sideband signals are split into two separate demodulation paths such that the unwanted information signals in each path are one hundred eighty degrees out of phase and the wanted information signals are in phase. The demodulated information signals from the two paths are summed to cancel the unwanted information signals from the lower sideband.

The telephone carrier system may be of the station carrier type and may have two or more plural channel amplitude modulated carrier sub-systems, each having its own transmission line. The automatic carrier level coordination control circuit is designed to be common to two or more of the carrier sub-systems.

    摘要: The instant invention relates to a device that permits a telephone line (loop) to be tested from a telephone central office, thereby eliminating the expense resulting from a visit by a repairman to a subscriber's premises. The disclosed device is responsive to an audio tone of a predetermined frequency, is located on a subscriber's premises and is activated by an audio tone of frequency within the pass band of the telephone circuit, this tone being transmitted from a central office. A tuned detector, located within the device, upon receiving said predetermined tone, actuates a timing circuit and relay circuit that places a circuit across the tip and ring of a telephone line. The circuit simulates the electrical condition of a telephone instrument in the "off hook" position and causes central office line equipment to operate, if the telephone loop is in an operable state, thereby indicating that the telephone loop is complete from the central office to the subscriber's premises.

    摘要: A voltage controlled oscillator which may be used in the receiver of a communications system, such as a carrier telephone system, for aiding in the demodulation of received carrier signals. The oscillator includes circuitry for generating first and second reference signals at a frequency equal to the carrier signal. Also included in the oscillator is circuitry which in response to the magnitude of an error signal variably connects a frequency determining electrical parameter to the frequency generating circuitry to thereby vary the frequency of the reference signals. The error signal magnitude represents the difference in phase between the carrier signal and the first reference signal.

    摘要: A power failure alarm circuit for a transmission line communications system such as a telephone system having means for transmitting and receiving carrier signals connected to a trunk line at an end central office. The alarm circuit monitors the power level of a selected number of the different frequency carriers received on the trunk line and generates an alarm condition signal when the combined power levels fall below a predetermined magnitude. The carrier signal receiving means responds to the alarm condition signal to release the subscribers. After a predetermined delay, the alarm circuit generates an alarm busy signal and the receiving means responds by forcing the trunk lines busy to prevent seizure by new callers. The alarm circuit also monitors the level of power being sent to signal repeaters connected to the trunk line and generates an enable signal when said power is lost. The transmitting means responds to the enable signal by pulsing the carrier signals to signal another end central office of the alarm condition.
