摘要: The present invention provides methods for enhancing the health of a subject using microorganisms indigenous to the subject's own gut microbiome. In one embodiment, the microbial population of a subjects GI tract and/or appendix is sampled and sequenced to identify and determine the population percentage of species. The beneficial species are used to inoculate novel, distributed fermentation systems. The beneficial species are cultivated to a high concentration and reintroduced into the subjects GI tract in order to restore the gut microbiome to a balanced and healthy state.

摘要: The subject invention provides methods and compositions for feeding domesticated animals. In certain embodiments, compositions comprising a microorganism and/or a microbial growth by-products is contacted with an animal's food and/or drinking water. Preferably, the growth by-product is a biosurfactant. Advantageously, the subject invention can promote good health and well-being in a domesticated animal by, for example, enhancing the animal's immune system, promoting digestive health, providing nutrients to the animal and promoting dental/oral cavity health. Furthermore, the subject invention can be used to prolong the shelf life of pet food and prevent contamination of food from deleterious microorganisms.

摘要: Methods are provided for enhanced production of microbial biosurfactants, the methods comprising co-cultivating Myxococcus xanthus and Pseudomonas chlororaphis. In certain embodiments, the biosurfactants are rhamnolipids or rhamnolipids-like glycolipids. In certain embodiments, other microbial growth by-products are produced, such as organic hydrocarbons including terpenes and/or terpenoids. Microbe-based products produced according to the subject methods are also provided, as well as their uses in, for example, agriculture, oil and gas recovery, and health care.
