There is provided a peripheral device including a multi-pole plug inserted into a jack of a jack device, the jack device including the jack, a conversion unit that converts a physical amount into an electrical signal or converts an electrical signal into a physical amount, a detection unit that detects whether the jack device is a corresponding device capable of handling multiplexed data obtained by multiplexing the electrical signal input and output to and from the conversion unit, a transmission and reception processing unit that transmits or receives the multiplexed data via a predetermined terminal of the multi-pole plug when the jack device is a corresponding device, and a function switching unit that performs assignment of an electrical function of a terminal other than the predetermined terminal of the multi-pole plug.

[Object] To provide a sound processing device capable of effectively reducing ambient noise at low cost.[Solution] Provided is a sound processing device including: a first sound collector configured to collect a first noise signal from a noise source of noise leaking into a casing mounted to a user's ear; a first signal processing unit configured to form a first noise reduction signal used to reduce noise at a cancellation point on the basis of the first noise signal; a second signal processing unit configured to form a second noise reduction signal used to reduce noise at a cancellation point with respect to a first pseudo noise signal; an adder configured to add the first noise reduction signal and the second noise reduction signal; and a sound emitter configured to emit an output of the adder into the casing as sound. The first pseudo noise signal is a signal obtained by subtracting an output of the adder applied with a simulation transfer characteristic from an output of the first sound collector, the simulation transfer characteristic being obtained by simulating a transfer characteristic from the sound emitter to the first sound collector.

An information distribution system and method capable of averaging a traffic load over time and effectively utilizing communication facilities, wherein a terminal station 30 transmits to a contents server 10 a distribution request for desired information including information of time limit of distribution, and the contents server 10 receives the distribution request, estimates a time band where the traffic load is small in the communications system in the period until the time limit of distribution, pages the terminal station again at that period of time, and, if the terminal station is in a state able to receive the information content, transmits the requested information content to the terminal station 30 through a network node.

The present technology relates to an input device, a transmitting method, a host device, a receiving method, a signal processing system, and a transceiving method, which are capable of easily performing transmission and reception of multiplexed data obtained by multiplexing a plurality of electric signals between a plug device including a plug and a jack device including a jack. An input device detects whether or not the jack device including the jack is an associated device capable of dealing the multiplexed data obtained by multiplexing a plurality of electric signals, and transmits the multiplexed data via the plug when the jack device is the associated device. The host device detects whether or not the plug device including the plug is the associated device, and receives the multiplexed data transmitted from the plug device via the jack when the plug device is the associated device. The present technology can be applied to a music player having a jack and a headset having a plug, for example.
