Abstract: Provided is a pressure sensitive adhesive article comprising (a) a substrate (Sa) (b) in contact with the substrate (Sa), a layer (Lb) of a pressure sensitive composition (Cb) that comprises one or more acrylic polymer (POLb) having Tg of 20° C. or lower, and (c) in contact with the layer (Lb), a layer (Lc) that comprises, (i) one or more acrylic polymer (POLc) having Tg of 20° C. or lower, and (ii) one or more olefin copolymer. Also provided are a method of making the pressure sensitive adhesive article and a bonded article made by using the pressure sensitive adhesive article.

Abstract: A composition having three components. The first component is from 20 to 80 wt % of a styrene-diene block copolymer having from 10-30 wt % polymerized units of styrene, wherein the block copolymer is present as a dispersion of copolymer in water, and the dispersion contains less than 5 wt % organic solvent based on total dispersion weight. The second component is from 0.5 to 20 wt % of a plasticizer. The third component is from 20 to 80 wt % of a tackifier.

Abstract: Water-based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are disclosed comprising (a) an acrylic emulsion having a glass transition temperature of less than or equal to 20° C., (b) optionally, a dispersant or a silane-containing compound, and (c) an ethylene or propylene copolymer emulsion. In some embodiments, (a) comprises from 75 to 99 wt % of the compositions, (b), when present, comprises from 0.1 to 5 wt % of the compositions, and (c) comprises from 0.1 to 25 wt % of the composition, each based on the dry weight of the compositions. Methods for preparing water-based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are also disclosed comprising emulsion polymerizing at least one unsaturated monomer, thereby forming an emulsion polymer having a glass transition temperature of less than or equal to −10° C. and blending the emulsion polymer together with a dispersant or silane-containing compound and an ethylene or propylene copolymer emulsion. Water-based pressure sensitive adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesive films are also disclosed.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method comprising: a) dispersing a first monomer mixture comprising least one least monomer, the first monomer mixture having a total glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range of from −10° C. to −65° C. with a surfactant and an initiator in an aqueous medium; b) when the first monomer mixture is completely dispersed, adding a second monomer mixture comprising at least one monomer, the second monomer mixture having a Tg at least 20° C. greater than the Tg of the first monomer mixture, to the aqueous medium; c) when the second monomer mixture is completely dispersed, adding a third monomer mixture comprising at least one monomer, the third monomer mixture having a Tg in the range of from −25° C. to 50° C.; and d) forming a polymer with the first, second, and third monomer mixtures. Also disclosed is a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising the polymer formed by this method.

Abstract: Activatable adhesive compositions are disclosed. The activatable adhesive compositions comprise a two-stage polymer particle, comprising a first stage comprising a hydrophilic acrylic polymer having an acid content of less than 200 mg KOH/g, a second stage polymerized within the first stage and comprising a hydrophobic acrylic polymer, and a tackifier soluble in the first stage and the second stage. Further, linerless labels and tapes comprising activatable adhesive compositions are disclosed. Still further, methods for adhering a first substrate to a second substrate using an activatable adhesive composition are also disclosed.
