Abstract: An energy monitoring system includes a memory storing instructions to execute an energy modeling technique and processing circuitry for executing the instructions to operate the energy modeling technique. The energy modeling technique includes receiving energy data from a plurality of segments representative of one or more logical subgroups. The energy modeling technique includes categorizing the energy data of the logical subgroups into a plurality of segments. The energy modeling technique includes organizing the plurality of segments into a plurality of state-based hierarchical levels. The energy modeling technique includes calculating energy usage and factors associated with the plurality of state-based hierarchical levels via an energy model. The energy modeling technique includes outputting a visualization representative of the energy data corresponding to each of the segments to a monitoring and control system, resulting in a graphical representation accessible by a user-viewable screen.

Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein describes a switch embedded in a motor controller and a network protocol executing on the switch to provide communication between devices connected to the motor controller in a motor drive application. The embedded switch is configured to communicate via separate ports with an external controller, a network interface for the motor controller, additional motor controllers, and with the motor or other devices mounted on the motor. The network protocol includes a first tier for data that requires deterministic delivery at a high data rate, a second tier for data that requires a high delivery rate but is also tolerant of some variation in delivery time, and a third tier for data that may be delivered at a slower data rate. The embedded switch receives data at any port, identifies the communication tier to which the data belongs, and delivers it to another port accordingly.

Abstract: An electronic device in an industrial control system may be connected as a network device, such as via EtherNet/IP. The device may be configured to provide an “unconnected” message notification (or “active report”) when the device detects an enumerated condition, such as an error or deviation. An unconnected message may be a message sent between two or more applications (which may be of the same or different devices) without pre-established communication channel bindings. An unconnected message may include routing path information for routing the message to the host computer, application path information for associating the applications, and data payload information related to at least one of a state of the electronic device and the enumerated condition.

Abstract: For energy operations across domains, a method generates a native node and a foreign node. The method further generates protocol reference data that identifies protocol specific relationships between the native node and the foreign node under an address space. In addition, the method links the native node and the foreign node in a native namespace and a foreign namespace by a translation function that automatically converts information between the foreign data structure and the proxy data structure using protocol specific structure converting functions. The method maps a native method calling of the native node to a foreign method calling of the foreign node using a protocol specific method mapping function.

The method further establishes a first publish/subscription instance with message middleware for the foreign device as publisher of the first publish/subscription instance. The method translates a message from the foreign device using the communication stack.
