Abstract:
A trailer 10 includes a frame 12 having a central axis 14 spaced between rear wheels. A plurality of storage units 20 are supported on the trailer frame, with each storage unit supporting a plurality of objects thereon. Each storage support has a support axis 22 substantially parallel to the frame central axis. A carriage assembly 24 rotates the plurality of storage supports, and a lift mechanism 30 raises and lowers the carriage assembly.
Abstract:
Methods are disclosed for distinguishing whether an animal is experiencing a bacterial infection or a viral infection. One monitors breath taken from the animal over time to measure the relative amount of a first breath stable isotope to a second breath stable isotope therein over time. A quick change in the isotope ratios within several hours from the likely infection is indicative of a bacterial infection. A delayed change in the isotope ratios, followed by periodic repeated alterations in the ratios, is indicative of viral infection. The methods are particularly efficient when using cavity ringdown spectroscopy for the monitoring. They may be used for monitoring a patient already admitted to a hospital, or for monitoring a patient initially complaining of adverse symptoms, or for triage, or for collectively monitoring a population of animals.
Abstract:
Administering conjugated linoleic acid to human and non-human animals having conditions associated with the existence of autoimmune complexes or auto-immune reactive cells can extend the survival life time, prolong healthy tissue and organ function and prevent body weight wasting in these animals.
Abstract:
A precision garden hoe includes a blade having a curved upper edge, a curved lower edge, pointed tips at the sides where the edges meet, and front and rear surfaces; a handle adapted to be held by a user; and a shaft having a front end attached to the rear surface of the blade, a rear end attached to the handle, and a bend so that the blade is at a non-perpendicular angle relative to the handle. The edges of the blade may be sharp. The bend in the shaft may be at an angle so that, when attached at a perpendicular angle to the front end of the shaft, the blade will be at a non-perpendicular angle relative to the rear end of the shaft.
Abstract:
A trailer 10 includes a frame (12) having a central axis (14) spaced between rear wheels. A plurality of storage supports (20) are supported on the trailer frame, with each storage support supporting a plurality of objects thereon. A carousel assembly (24) rotates the plurality of storage supports, and may be raised and lowered. A locking mechanism (180) is provided for engaging the carousel to prevent the carousel from inadvertently moving to the lowered position. A tire support mechanism (210) includes an elongate restraint engaging an upright tire when a ratchet mechanism renders a flexible member taut.
Abstract:
It is disclosed here a method for reducing phosphate absorption in a human or non-human animal subject wherein the subject consumes a diet containing phytic acid or phytate and either has or is at risk of developing hyperphosphatemia. The method includes the step of administering orally to the subject an anti-intestinal alkaline phosphatase antibody in an amount effective to reduce or maintain the serum phosphate concentration in the subject.
Abstract:
A method for reducing phosphate absorption in a human or non-human animal subject at risk of developing or having developed hyperphosphatemia is disclosed. The method includes the step of administering orally to the subject an anti-intestinal sodium phosphate cotransporter type 2B (Npt2B) antibody in an amount effective to reduce or maintain the serum phosphate concentration in the subject.
Abstract:
It is disclosed here that a protein with a heat-labile specific binding activity can be stabilized with a saccharide compound with regard to the binding activity. To heat-stabilize the protein, it is mixed with a saccharide compound in a liquid suspension and the suspension is then dried to produce a solid that contains the protein and the saccharide. The saccharide compounds that possess the protein heat-stabilization activity include monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides, alkylated monosaccharides, alkylated disaccharides, alkylated polysaccharides, monosaccharide alcohols and alkylated monosaccharide alcohols.
Abstract:
A method for treating diseases and conditions caused by type III hypersensitive reactions in a human or non-human animal is disclosed. The method involves administering to the animal a conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) or a substance which can be converted to CLA in the animal in an amount effective to reduce inflammation in the animal.
