Abstract: A method and apparatus for rupturing connective tissues that attach a tooth to a patient's alveolar bone socket are provided. The apparatus includes a metal cap removably attached to the tooth using a cementing agent, and a transducer assembly having a transducer head and a ball projection. The metal cap includes a body section having a hollow space defined by its coronal surface and contiguous vertical surfaces for enclosing the tooth. The body section has a slit terminating with an apical strip and loop arrangement. The metal cap further includes a ball socket extending from the coronal surface of the body section. The transducer head generates vibrational and tapping movements in the ball projection. The ball projection operatively engages the ball socket to transfer the vibrational and tapping movements to the metal cap and thereby to the tooth, which ruptures the connective tissues of the tooth.

Abstract: A removable orthodontic appliance and methods of use and manufacturing of the removable orthodontic appliance for repositioning teeth of an upper jaw or lower jaw are provided. The removable orthodontic appliance comprises a trough shaped arch tray that defines an interstitial space between the sides of the arch tray for accommodating the teeth. The arch tray form fits over the contours of the teeth of the upper jaw or lower jaw from a first molar region through a second molar region. The arch tray extends down the teeth on a labial surface and a lingual surface of the teeth to the gingival areas. One or more arch wires are infused and rigidly anchored within the lingual side of the arch tray. Each of the arch wires comprises a surface pre-infused with a polymeric material for rigidly bonding to the lingual side of the arch tray.

Abstract: A dental implant for supporting periodontal tissue and the supporting bone is provided. The dental implant includes an implant member for insertion into a periodontal bone socket, and an anchoring assembly. The anchoring assembly includes a fastening element and radially equidistant cylindrical members. The fastening element engages the implant member within the hollow axial cavity. The root section includes through-holes for radially and forcibly sliding the cylindrical members through them. When the fastening element apically advances within the hollow axial cavity, the cylindrical members generate an anchoring force to anchor the dental implant.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for constructing a three dimensional (3D) tomographic image from an object's two dimensional (2D) panoramic image are provided. A first geometrical attribute set in a first coordinate system is assigned to one or more focal troughs. A second geometrical attribute set in a second coordinate system is assigned to the 2D panoramic image. Second geometrical attributes are correlated with first geometrical attributes for reconstructing the 2D panoramic image in multiple dimensions. Multiple defocused elements of the object are determined along the 2D panoramic image's horizontal dimension. A transverse dimension is determined for the reconstructed panoramic image by mapping the defocused elements to a translation along the transverse dimension in the first coordinate system on either side of the center of the focal troughs. The multiple dimensions of the reconstructed panoramic image are transformed into an orthogonal coordinate system to generate the 3D tomographic image.
