Abstract:
The present invention provides for a method of impregnating a matrix with a high thermal conductivity filled resin 32, which produces a resin impregnated matrix. The high thermal conductivity material 30 comprises 5-60% by volume of the resin 32. This is compressed by approximately 5-30%, and the distances between the high thermal conductivity materials loaded in the resin are reduced, and the resin is then cured.
Abstract:
A rugged screw-threaded pipe connector for handling corrosive or contaminating fluids under high pressure in a pipeline or pipe riser surrounded by a body of water and subject to high static or dynamic stresses and bending forces. The connector is provided with coarse threads having stabbing flanks and with load flanks adapted to support high loads. The connector is provided with multiple sealing means arranged within the body of the connector that isolate the threads from fluids outside the connector or within the bore of the connector.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved putter for use in the game of golf. The improved putter of the present invention includes a putter face defining a generally planar contact surface. Attached to the rear of the putter face is an elongate putter barrel defining a barrel axis passing through the center of the barrel aligned perpendicular to the planar contact surface. A connector is provided on the barrel to allow for connection of the putter barrel to a putter shaft. Thus, the shaft may gripped by a user in order to initiate motion of the putter face and barrel. The connector and shaft are preferably provided so that the moment of inertia about an axis passing through the center of the shaft is increased, thereby resisting rotation about the axis of the shaft. Further, in a preferred embodiment, the connector is attached to the barrel along the barrel axis so that any force transferred to the putter barrel and face through the shaft is transferred along the barrel axis, further reducing the tendency of the putter face to rotate about the shaft axis. Additionally, the shaft of the putter is angled toward the putter face which increases the tendency to accelerate the putter head through impact with the golf ball.
Abstract:
A system for restricting insertion removable disk drives in a computer to identified disk drives, having female connectors in the computer and male connectors on the disk drive. Each male connector has engaging members in recessed slots between conductive surfaces. Each female connector has spring-loaded contact members which are adapted to be engaged by the engaging embers. Each contact member has a first conductive area on one side which comes in electrical contact with a conductive surface of a male connector, and a second conductive area on an opposite side which is in electrical contact with the first conductive area. Contact connectors in the female connector are in continuous electrical connection to the computer. When an identified disk drive is inserted, the contact members are pushed back a predetermined distance so as to establish electrical contact between contact connectors and the second conductive areas.
Abstract:
In a magnet wire fabrication process in which the drawing of wire is "in-line" with the enameling process, it is often a requirement that the drawing machines be supplied with electrical power from the utility grid rather than relying on an "in-house," closely regulated supply of electrical power. In such cases, during voltage dips on the grid, the drawing machine motors will slow down while the wires continue to be pulled from the drawing machine at the same speed as before. A wire accumulator is interposed between the drawing machines and the enameling oven to prevent breakage of wire by providing an accumulation of wire to be used in the event of such a voltage dip. The present invention discloses an apparatus for controlling the various channels of the accumulator so as to provide roughly equivalent amounts of wire in each channel so that the integrity of all channels during a power dip is assured. A central operator control station for effecting the desired control is disclosed. It comprises, among other things, a keyboard and a display for entering a desired wire gauge size to be drawn, and a signal processor for controlling the accumulator channels according to the commanded gauge size. A plurality of controllers for each channel are responsive to a speed command signal from a pulling capstan at the enameling end of the process. This signal is modified by a feedback signal derived from the accumulator channels so as to indicate the actual running speed of the various drawing machine motors and at the same time control the amount of wire accumulated in the various channels.
Abstract:
A pair of substantially common elevation tank compartments are provided including lower sump portions and a first tank compartment includes an inlet pipe portion for admitting drilling cuttings in a downward direction into the first tank compartment. The inlet pipe portion includes at least one lateral cleaning fluid jet and the first tank compartment includes additional horizontal cleaning fluid jets for directing jets of cleaning fluid through the drilling cuttings as they are admitted into the first tank compartment and subsequently directing jets of cleaning fluid through the cleaning fluid and drilling cuttings within the first tank compartment below the liquid level therein. The upper portion of the second tank compartment includes a vibratory screen-type separator positioned thereover and structure is provided for pumping fluent material from the sump of the first tank compartment to the separator whereby the larger size, cleaned cuttings will be separated from the other fluent material which passes downwardly through the separator and into the cleaning fluid within the second tank compartment. Pump structure is provided for pumping fluent cleaning material from the sump of the second tank compartment to the various aforementioned cleaning fluid jets and a liquid level balance pipe is connected between upper portions of the tank compartments at levels spaced slightly below the liquid levels therein.
Abstract:
A tip, connected to a metal chip component, for forming readable changes in a memory storage system is disclosed. The tip includes a conductive layer, an amorphous silicon layer, and a silicide outer layer. The silicide outer layer contains a metal that has an anneal temperature to form the silicide outer layer at a temperature below that which damages the chip component.
