摘要: A tissue ablation system and method are provided. The system includes a catheter including a distal electrode tip having at least one tip electrode, at least one return electrode positionable independently of the tip electrode, and a voltage generator circuit electrically connected to the tip electrode and to the return electrode. The tip electrode and the return electrode include a dielectric or other non-conductive surface layer. The voltage generator circuit applies a voltage differential across the tip electrode and the return electrode such that the tip electrode and the return electrode are given opposite polarity. Tissue located between the tip electrode and the return electrode acts as a capacitive dielectric medium in which an electric field is present and is not dependent on current flow between the tip electrode and the return electrode, and the electric field induces electroporation of tissue cells in a vicinity of the distal electrode tip.

摘要: A bioimpedance device for surgical cavities has pick-up electrodes surrounded by driving electrodes, each driving electrode having greater area than the pick-up electrodes, the electrode array coupled through an adjacent connector to an electronics module. The electronics module fits through laparoscopic ports. The electronics module includes a voltage controlled current source, multiplexing for driving electrodes, a force sensor, and voltage buffers, and couples to a data acquisition system coupled to a processor. The processor uses the apparatus to perform bioimpedance mapping of tissue. A method of mapping bioimpedance includes contacting tissue with the electrode array, sequentially driving at least one of the driving electrodes with an alternating current at frequencies between 100 and 1000000 hertz while reading the sense electrodes through analog to digital converters into the processor; using readings of the sense electrodes to generate a bioimpedance map of the tissue; the electrode array fitting through laparoscopic ports.

摘要: An imaging system includes an illumination device for illuminating a target. A surgical microscope receives light from the target, the surgical microscope comprising at least one optical output port at which at least a portion of the received light is provided as an output from the surgical microscope. A tunable filter receives the portion of the received light provided as the output from the surgical microscope, the tunable filter being tunable to pass a filtered portion of the received light, the filtered portion of the received light having a plurality of wavelengths selected by the tunable filter and provided as output from the tunable filter. A high-resolution, broad-bandwidth electronic camera receives the light of a plurality of wavelengths selected by the tunable filter, the electronic camera converting the light of a plurality of wavelengths selected by the tunable filter to a plurality of electrical signals. A processor processes the plurality of electrical signals to form an image of the target.

摘要: Nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and recombinant cells harboring the nucleic acid constructs or vectors are disclosed. The nucleic acid constructs include genes encoding a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) and/or one or more transcription factors, optionally mutated. The transcription factors include those that mediate proinflammatory cytokine expression, e.g., T-bet, STAT1, or STAT4. Methods are disclosed of co-expression of the CAR and the transcription factor in a human or non-human immune cell, preferably human T cells. Also disclosed are methods for using these cells for immunotherapy, e.g., in treating cancer, infection, autoimmunity, allergy or inflammation diseases by the administration of a prophylactically or therapeutically effective amount of one or more of the nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and/or immune cells, e.g., human CAR-T cells, described herein.

摘要: A gated camera has an image-sensing device, a spatial-light modulator that directs part or all of an incident optical beam toward the image-sensing device or away from the image-sensing device under control of a controller; and a beam-directing element that directs the incident optical beam toward the spatial-light modulator. A gated image acquisition method includes controlling whether a temporal segment of an incident optical beam contributes to an image captured by an image sensor by directing the temporal segment either toward the image sensor or away from the image sensor. A method for spatially encoding a temporally-varying light signal comprising, for each of a plurality of temporal segments of the temporally-varying light signal selectively directing the temporal segment of the temporally-varying light signal to a respective region of an image sensor, or directing the temporal segment of the temporally-varying light signal away from the image sensor.

摘要: A method of detecting health-related behaviors, comprising training a model with video of the mouths of one or more users, capturing video using a camera focused on a user's mouth; processing the video using the model; and outputting one or more health-related behaviors detected in the captured video by the model. A method of training the model includes preprocessing a video captured by a camera focused on a user's mouth by extracting raw video frames and optical flow features; classifying the video frame-by-frame; aggregating video frames in sections based on their classifications; and training the model using the classified and aggregated video frames. A wearable device for capturing video of a user's mouth is also described.

摘要: A speckle-suppressing lighting system includes an optical waveguide, a first solid-state light source, a second solid-state light source, and a diffuser. The optical waveguide has a proximal end and a distal end. At least part of the diffuser is between the proximal end and the distal end. The first solid-state light source is optically coupled to the optical waveguide near the proximal end, and emits a first light beam that propagates toward the distal end and has a first center wavelength. The second solid-state light source is optically coupled to the optical waveguide near the proximal end, and emits a second light beam that propagates toward the distal end and has a second center wavelength differing from the first center wavelength. The diffuser diffuses the first light beam and the second light beam.

摘要: An amplitude detector has a phase shifter such as one using an analog differentiator and an adjustable gain stage, or one using a determinable delay, the phase shifter coupled to shift phase of an input signal to the amplitude detection apparatus. The detector also has a first analog multiplier coupled to square the input signal, a second analog multiplier coupled to square output of the phase shifter; and an analog adder coupled to sum outputs of the first and second analog multiplier. An automatic gain control circuit has the amplitude detector coupled to control gain of a controllable amplifier.

摘要: A brain computer interface for interfacing with a brain of a subject is provided. The brain computer interface includes one or more shanks. Each shank includes an array of pixels and output traces. Each pixel includes an electrode and a front-end circuit positioned at a site of the electrode. The front-end circuit is configured to reduce noise in signals recorded by the electrode, and further configured to multiplex the signals. A density of power consumption of the each pixel is equal to or less than 1 μW per area of 50 μm by 50 μm. The output traces are electrically coupled with the array of pixels. A number of output traces is less than a number of pixels in the array due to multiplexing. The one or more shanks are configured to be inserted on and/or into a brain of a subject.
