摘要: A method for casting longitudinal cast products including casting longitudinal cast products in a semi-continuous manner using a DC casting apparatus having a mold, wherein the mold has top and bottom openings and partially solidifies molten metal that enters into the mold via the top opening and outputs the cast product via the bottom opening, recording a thermal image of the cast product output via the bottom opening, determining at least three non-overlapping temperature ranges comprising a first, second and third, determining a peak temperature in the thermal image; comparing the peak temperature with the at least three temperature ranges; and performing operations depending on where the peak temperature falls within the at least three temperature ranges.

摘要: Apparatus and method for filtering molten metal including a container with a removable lid to keep the container sealed during operation, the container having an inlet chamber having an inlet opening receiving metal from a metal supply launder and outlet chamber with outlet opening connected to a launder segment. The container having a partition wall between the inlet chamber and outlet chamber and a ceramic foam filter mounted in the outlet chamber. The inlet chamber and outlet chamber being provided within the container and split by the partition wall. The container being connected in parallel with the metal supply launder via stubs. The launder being provided with a dam or valve device downstream the outlet of the container and another dam or valve device between the said launder stubs. Inside the container there is further arranged a second outlet chamber with a filter.

摘要: Apparatus for feeding doses of fluidisable materials comprising one upper Intel pipe (1′, 1″), one lower outlet pipe (2′, 2″) and a Pausing (6′,6″). and a fluidising element (5′,5″) for controlling outflow of materials through the outlet pipe (2′, 2″). The apparatus further comprising a control volume constituted by a chamber (3′,3″) between the Intel pipe (1′, 8″) and the outlet pipe (2′,2″) and a fluidising element (4′, 4″) for controlling inflow of materials Into the chamber (3′, 3″). A diverter (7′,7″) la arranged between the Inlet pipe (1′, 8″) and the outlet pipe {2′, 2″) defining said chamber (3′, 3″) between said Inlet pipe (1′,8″) diverter (7′,7″) the housing (6′, 6″) and the fluidising element (5′,5″). The Invention also relates to a method for feeding doses of fluidisable materials by the apparatus.

摘要: The present invention relates to methods for operating and controlling the temperature of inert electrodes during production of molten aluminum by electrolysis of an aluminous ore, preferably alumina, dissolved in molten salts, preferably a fluoride based electrolyte, in an electrolysis cell with vertical or essentially vertical electrode configuration. The invention describes methods of designing and operating inert electrodes in a vertical and/or inclined position for production of aluminum metal, where said electrodes have an operating temperature that may deviate from the electrolyte temperature, thereby controlling the dissolution of electrode materials and preventing solid deposit formation on the electrodes. The present invention is also applicable to aluminum production cells utilizing inert electrodes in a horizontal configuration, and traditional Hall-Hèroult cells retrofitted with inert anodes.
