    摘要: A safety overload device for a transfer machine having a rotatable drive member and a rotatable driven member. Overload protection is afforded by a yieldable driving connection provided between a face of the drive member and a corresponding face of the driven member by a plurality of spring-loaded bearing balls. The two members rotate over a selected angular range in unison as long as the load torque remains below a selected level as established by the spring force on the balls. A position return safety feature is provided by a pin projecting outwardly from the face of one of the two members to engage an arcuate slot in the face of the other member. The pin is positioned at one end of the slot. When the device encounters an overload during rotation in one direction, the yieldable coupling provided by the springloaded balls breaks the driving connection between the two members. The slot permits the drive member to continue rotating in the one direction and therefore to slip relative to the driven member so as to traverse the remaining angular distance in the one direction while the driven member remains stationary. When the drive member rotates in the opposite direction, it slips relative to the driven member until it comes to the position where it became disconnected from the driven member. As the drive member rotates through this position, the one end of the slot forcibly abuts the pin to cause the driven member to be rotated in unison with the drive member over the final increment of movement in the latter direction.

    摘要: A transfer mechanism is adapted for inclusion in conventional die assemblies operated by reciprocating presses. A cam-actuated drive mechanism induces transferring movement of an assembly having a lost-motion interconnection between certain components, and this lost-motion is utilized to induce a cam-controlled lifting-retracting action at the opposite extremes of a normally horizontal transferring movement. The lifting and carrying component is embraced by a member establishing a vertical guideway, and these two members move together horizontally. A second set of these members, connected in sequence, provides movement of the mechanism in three successive dimensions.

By a proper design and combination of various cam tracer and lifting units, the work gripping and holding assembly advances in a traverse direction to grip the workpiece, then moves vertically after which it moves the workpiece along in a longitudinal direction, then lowers the workpiece into the next station to release the workpiece and then traverses out of the work area. The last move is in a direction to return the assembly to its initial position to complete one cycle.

The cam means is so arranged that the input shaft alternately transmits rotary motion to one of the output shafts to produce 180* of rotary motion thereof, while the other of the output shafts is held stationary. The cam means then rotates the other output shaft for 180* of rotation while maintaining the first-mentioned output shaft stationary. One of the output shafts is operatively connected to the movable member in such a fashion as to cause vertical upward movement thereof during the first 180* of rotation of the same output shaft and downward vertical movement during the second 180* of rotation of the same output shaft, while the other output shaft is adapted to cause a horizontal back and forth movement of the movable support intermittent the up and down motion of the movable support respectively during the two alternating 180* rotary motion of the last-mentioned output shaft.

    摘要: A conveyor mechanism for continuously, simultaneously conveying articles along a horizontal path. The conveyor mechanism has a plurality of transversely spaced movable beams driven by a plurality of longitudinally spaced parallel shafts rotated in a timed relation. Each shaft is provided with transversely spaced slots of a predetermined depth and so arranged that each successive slot is longitudinally aligned with each successive movable beam. A plurality of rollers, spaced below the beams, support the beams to prevent contact between the beams and the rotating shafts when the beams are within the shaft slots. The beams are elevated to a predetermined position and move in a first direction when engaged by the nonslotted portions of the rotating shafts, and are lowered to engage and be supported by the rollers and moved in an opposite direction when the beams are within the shaft slots. The slotted portions of the rotating shafts are preferably arranged so that at least one pair of beams is always in an elevated position so that workpieces conveyed thereby will always be supported in a common plane by beams moving in the same direction. The driving means between the beams and the rotating shafts for moving the beams in the first direction take the form of a frictional drive in one embodiment and of a positive gear-to-rack drive in another embodiment. The drive means between the beams and the rollers to move the beams in the opposite direction may selectively take the form of mechanical springs, a frictional drive or a positive gear-to-rack drive.

    摘要: Open ended inner and outer walking chambers have a liquid sealed sliding connection between them, and the outer chamber has a similar liquid sealed sliding connection with the high vacuum chamber of an electron beam gun whose beam passes through the liquid sealed chambers to impinge upon the surface of a workpiece. The open ends of the walking chambers have inflatable seals which, upon being inflated, move to engage the work surface in releasable locking engagement therewith. The walking chambers also have pneumatic motors and metering devices to index the chambers relative to the beam. A walking seal system, including the pneumatic motors, metering devices, valves, and associated elements and circuitry, operates cyclically to alternately inflate the chamber end seals, evacuate the walking chambers, and actuate the indexing motors to advance the chambers relative to the beam while maintaining therewithin the required low order vacuum environment for the beam as it moves relative to the workpiece.
