Abstract: Systems and methods for assessing text legibility in an electronic document are disclosed. According to certain aspects, the electronic document may include a text layer and a background layer, and an electronic device may generate a text mask comprising a set of glyphs at certain positions. The electronic device may analyze the text mask to generate an output comprising a set of bounding boxes that indicate legibility degrees of the respective glyphs included in the text mask. The electronic device may display the output for review and assessment by a user, who may use the electronic device to facilitate any modifications to the electronic document.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus is configured to execute an application containing a first component for displaying a web page and a second component different from the first component. The information processing apparatus selects, in a case where a plurality of external fonts that is externally acquired is determined to be used in a web page displayed in the first component, a font for used in the second component from the plurality of external fonts based on a usage pattern of each of the plurality of external fonts in the web page.

Abstract: An annotation corresponding to a first range of text of a first document may be received. Based on the annotation, comparisons may be performed between a text string that comprises the first range of text and a group of text of a second document at different positions in the group of text. Based on the comparisons, similarity scores between the text string and the group of text may be determined at the different positions in the group of text. A position for the annotation in the group of text may be selected based on the similarity scores at the different positions. The annotation may be associated with a second range of text in the group of text that corresponds to the position.

Abstract: In a method for securing a web browser, display instructions for displaying web content are received from a content server by a web browser operating on a client computing device. The web browser creates a document object using the display instructions and determines from the document object whether one or more of the display instructions meet font profiling criteria selected to identify attempts to profile font display characteristics of the web browser. Responsive to a determination that font profiling criteria are met, the web browser alters a character display of the document object and implements the document object for displaying the web content on the client computing device.

Abstract: Techniques described herein take character glyphs as input and generate a text-on-a-path text object that includes the character glyphs arranged in a determined order along a path. For instance, a method described herein includes accessing character glyphs in input data. The method further includes determining an order for the character glyphs based on relative positions and orientations of the character glyphs in the input data. The method further includes generating a path for the character glyphs, based on the order, and associating the path with the character glyphs. Further, the method includes generating a text object that includes the set of character glyphs arranged in the order along the path.

Abstract: Near-to-eye displays support a range of applications from helping users with low vision through augmenting a real world view to displaying virtual environments. The images displayed may contain text to be read by the user. It would be beneficial to provide users with text enhancements to improve its readability and legibility, as measured through improved reading speed and/or comprehension. Such enhancements can provide benefits to both visually impaired and non-visually impaired users where legibility may be reduced by external factors as well as by visual dysfunction(s) of the user. Methodologies and system enhancements that augment text to be viewed by an individual, whatever the source of the image, are provided in order to aid the individual in poor viewing conditions and/or to overcome physiological or psychological visual defects affecting the individual or to simply improve the quality of the reading experience for the user.

Abstract: A fact replacement and style consistency tool is described. Rather than rely heavily on human involvement to replace facts and maintain consistent styles across multiple digital documents, the described change management system identifies factual and stylistic inconsistencies between these documents, in part, using natural language processing techniques. Once these inconsistencies are identified, the change management system generates a user interface that includes indications of the inconsistencies and information describing them, e.g., an indication noting not only a type of inconsistency but also presenting a first portion and at least a second portion of the multiple documents that are factually inconsistent. By automatically identifying these factual and stylistic inconsistencies across multiple documents and presenting indications of such cross-document inconsistencies, the described change management system eliminates human errors in connection with maintaining factual and stylistic consistency over a body of documents.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media that merge separate digital point text objects into a single merged digital text object while preserving the properties and original visual appearance associated with the digital text included therein. For example, the disclosed systems can determine point text character properties associated with the separate digital point text objects (e.g., rotations, baseline shifts, etc.). The disclosed systems can merge the separate digital point text objects into a single merged digital point text object and modify associated font character properties to reflect the determined point text character properties. Further, the disclosed systems can generate an area text object based on the merged digital point text object where the area text object includes the digital text and the font character properties.
