摘要: A shoe sole having at least one midsole or outer surface portion that is concavely rounded relative to a space inside the shoe adapted to receive an intended wearer's foot. The sole includes a midsole and an outer sole. The midsole extends up the side of the sole to a vertical height above the vertical height of a lowest point of the inner midsole surface. The midsole includes a portion of greatest thickness in a side portion that is greater than a thickness of a second midsole portion located in a middle sole portion of the shoe sole. The combination of the midsole height and thickness with the concavely rounded surface portion together provide improved stability of the shoe sole.

摘要: A construction for a shoe, particularly an athletic shoe, which includes a sole that conforms to the natural shape of the foot shoe, including the bottom and the sides, when that foot sole deforms naturally by flattening under load while walking or running in order to provide a stable support base for the foot and ankle. Deformation sipes such as slits or channels are introduced in horizontal plane of the shoe sole to provide it with flexibility roughly equivalent to that of the foot. The result is a shoe sole that accurately parallels the frontal plane deformation of the foot sole, which creates a stable base that is wide and flat even when tilted sideways in extreme pronation or supination motion. In marked contrast, conventional shoe soles are rigid and become highly unstable when tilted sideways because they are supported only by a thin bottom edge.

摘要: The present invention relates to athletic shoes used in sports that require asymmetric movement of the feet, such as fencing. The asymmetric shoes of the present invention include a trailing shoe and a leading shoe that are each specially adapted to the particular asymmetric movement of the trailing and leading foot, respectively, allowing each foot to perform optimally. The leading and trailing shoes each include an upper and a sole. The trailing shoe sole includes front, rear, lateral, and medial portions, the lateral sole portion having a greater thickness than the medial portion.

摘要: The present invention discloses a ground-contacting system including 3D deformation elements having interiors filled with either compressible fluid such as a gas or filled with other materials such as liquids, foams, viscous materials and/or viscoelastic materials. The 3D elements are designed to deform, distort or deflect in three mutually orthogonal directions simultaneously and are associated directly with the surfaces that routinely come in direct contact with a ground surface such as the underside of the sole and side portions of the shoe upper near the sole. The 3D elements are also designed to decrease the amount of force transfered to the wearers feet, legs, back and joints due to their ability to distort three dimensionally and to dissipate the energy of foot fall into thermal energy. The 3D elements are also designed to allow the shoe or foot to move a measurable amount relative to the ground-contacting surface in response to an applied force such as the forces encounted in walking, running or any in other activity.

摘要: The invention is an article of footwear having a sole comprised of one or more support elements formed of a resilient, compressible material. The support elements are designed such that the positions of one or more bands that encircle the exterior surface of the support elements may be altered such that the deflection characteristics of the support elements are changed. In order to facilitate the repositioning of the bands, the support element includes an access indentation defined by the exterior surface or flanges that are secured to each band.

摘要: A construction for a shoe, particularly an athletic shoe such as a running shoe, includes a sole that is constructed according to the applicant's prior invention of a theoretically ideal stability plane. Such a shoe sole according to that prior invention conforms to the natural shape of the foot, particularly the sides, and that has a constant thickness in frontal plane cross sections; the thickness of the shoe sole sides contour equals and therefore varies exactly as the thickness of the load-bearing sole portion. The new invention relates to the use of the theoretically ideal stability plane concept to provide natural stability in negative heel shoe soles that are less thick in the heel area than in the rest of the shoe sole. This new invention also relates to the use of the theoretically ideal stability plane concept to provide natural stability in flat shoe soles that have no heel lift, maintaining the same thickness throughout; such a design avoids excessive structural rigidity by using contoured stability sides abbreviated to only essential structural support elements to provide the shoe sole with natural flexibility paralleling that of the human foot. The abbreviation of essential structural support elements can also be applied to negative heel shoe soles, again to avoid excessive rigidity and to provide natural flexibility.

摘要: A tap dancing shoe has a shock absorbing cushion to minimize the potential for injury caused by the repetitive stresses placed upon the feet and knees during tap dancing. The tap dancing shoe includes a shoe upper that can be fabricated from a variety of materials. The shoe upper is attached to a rigid sole such that the shoe upper and the top surface of the sole create a shoe cavity to encase the foot. The width of the shoe cavity may be adjusted by an adjustable portion of the shoe upper to insure that the tap dancing shoe fits securely on the foot of the dancer. A rigid heel is attached to the sole of the tap dancing shoe. Tap plates are then secured to the sole of the tap dancing shoes. Generally, a front tap plate is attached at the front, or ball portion, of the shoe, and a heel tap plate is attached to the heel of the tap dancing shoe. A shock absorbing cushion is permanently affixed to the sole of the tap dancing shoe within the shoe cavity. The shock absorbing cushion contains a single layer or multiple layers of cushioning material arranged such that the shock absorbing cushion is thicker at the front of the tap dancing shoe, corresponding to the placement of the front tap plate, than at the rear portion of the tap dancing shoe.
