摘要: A detent for releasably securing an inner telescoping tube within an outer telescoping tube. The said tubes having alignable openings in the walls thereof for receiving the detent. The detent is formed by a detent pin which extends through the tube wall openings and releasably latches the tubes together. A leaf spring secured at the inserted end of said inserted tube extends within the outer tube into supporting and biasing engagement with the detent pin. The spring biases said pin into the latching position. For releasing the detent, a bell crank is pivotally mounted within the inserted tube. One end of the bell crank is engaged with the locking pin and biasing spring and the other end is secured to an actuating knob which extends through the wall of the inserted tube.

摘要: A release key for adjustable track hurdles having telescoping members with a biased detent locking assembly located within a pair of longitudinal telescoping members, wherein the detent extends outwardly through aligned apertures in the telescoping members to selectively lock those members in predetermined longitudinal positions. The key features a pressure plate having inner and outer faces, with the inner face having an inwardly extending release protuberance and shaped portion which corresponds in conformation with at least a portion of the outer surface of the telescoping members. The outer face preferably includes a handle to further facilitate manipulation by the user, and the release protuberance is aligned with the biased detent in use and extends at least partially into the aligned apertures when its inner face is placed in contact with the outer surface of the telescoping members. In a preferred embodiment, the key includes a pair of release protuberances longitudinally spaced along the inner face of the pressure plate at intervals corresponding with spacing between adjustment apertures on the hurdle standards to enable quick adjustment of hurdle heights between predetermined, non-adjacent adjustment apertures. The release key also preferably includes a curved pressure plate having a semicircular shape to correspond with the cylindrical outer tube of hurdle standards, and the handle includes a rounded thumb clasp designed to receive the user's thumb and to enable simultaneous release of the locking pin and grasping of the outer circumference of the adjustable hurdle standard.

摘要: A locking mechanism for extendible telescoping tubular members formed with radial, axially aligned openings. The locking mechanism comprises a hollow housing that surrounds the exterior wall of the outer tubular member. The housing is adapted for movement in the axial direction of the telescoping tubular members along the exterior wall of the outer tubular member. Disposed within the housing is at least one spring loaded lever that pivots about a fulcrum in the housing. Fixed to the opposite end portions of the lever, respectively, are oppositely directed plungers. When the radial openings of the telescoping tubular members are in register, the locking plunger enters the registered openings to restrain axial displacement between the telescoping tubular members. When it is desired to vary the overall length of the telescoping tubular members, the lever actuating plunger is depressed to remove the locking plunger from the registered openings against the urgency of the spring and the telescoping tubular members are displaced axially relative to one another. The actuating plunger is released after the desired overall length for the telescoping tubular member is reached. Thereupon, one of the telescoping members is moved axially relative to the other tubular member until the locking plunger enters registered openings of the telescoping tubular members under the urgency of the spring to restrain axial displacement between the telescoping tubular members.

摘要: A mechanism for adjusting the height of a handle bar for a baby carriage in which upwardly-extending tubular bars are slidably fitted into the end portions of a U-shaped handgrip bar having a hollow tubular construction. A plurality of engaging apertures are formed in the side of each of the upwardly-extending bars adjacent to an upper end and spaced at predetermined intervals. The engaging apertures are connected together by narrow slots. A retainer member is engaged with each of the two end portions of the handgrip bar and is disposed at a position corresponding to the engaging apertures. Inclined flanges projecting from opposite sides of the retainer member are received respectively in inclined slide guide grooves formed in an elevation operating member. The retainer member is moved outwardly and inwardly in a direction perpendicular to the sliding movement of the elevation operating member when the elevation operating member is slid up and down.

摘要: A crutch having a telescoping section for adjusting its length. The length of the telescoping section is locked by a pair of detents on the inner telescoping tube popping through selected ones of many periodically recurring confronting holes formed in the outer telescoping tube. The upper and lower ends of the outer one of the telescoping tubes are riveted to spaced parallel upright members which form the weight carrying part of the crutch. The lower rivets to do not pass through the entire diameter of the telescoping section. Instead, heads of the rivets form bosses projecting radially inward from diagonally opposed points on the internal perimeter of the outer telescoping tube. The inner telescoping tube has a pair of longitudinal grooves forming tracks which receive and slide over the bosses formed by the rivet heads, for limiting the amount of rotational travel which may be experienced by the inner telescoping tube which cannot rotate far enough for the detent to be completely misaligned with the confronting locking holes. It can rotate far enough to ride over the perimeter of the holes, to enable a quick and easy length adjustment. Thus, as long as the inner telescoping tube is held in a rotated position, the locking detent is forced to pass extremely close to, but not directly over each of the confronting holes. As it so passes, the spring bias of the detent forces it to pass into the locking hole when the inner telescoping tube is released from its rotational position.

摘要: A load bracing bar frictionally supported between partitions to restrain cargo movement comprising an elongated bar consisting of telescopingly interconnected portions. An elongated tooth track is homogeneously defined in one of the bar portions of the material thereof, and a lever and dog device mounted upon the other bar portion selectively engages the teeth of the track to extend the bar portions longitudinally upon lever action. The lever is pivotal to a position which retracts the dog from the tooth track for retracting the bar portions, and a spring biased detent on the lever positively locks the lever and bar in the extended condition.
