A castor (302/402) is connected to each socket or sleeve (308), each castor having two wheel portions (312/412) and an axle assembly (316/404). The axle assembly includes an axle (314/414) to which the two wheel portions are rotatably mounted in spaced disposition and including a pin (318/418), wherein the pin (318/418) of each castor is received in a respective socket or sleeve (308) which extends at least in part between the two wheel portions (312/412). Only a small clearance is required between the underside of the legs (300) and the tops of the castors (302/402). Further, low profile legs (300) may be used in the base (18), while still providing the required strength and stability.

摘要： A caster includes a wheel body having a hub portion and an axle extending from the hub portion. Lock engaging members are disposed around the hub portion. An upright mounting frame includes a lower mounting portion journalled to the axle, and an upper mounting portion extending upwardly from the lower mounting portion. The upper mounting portion is spaced apart from the wheel body to define an upright passage therebetween. A support frame is movable relative to the mounting frame, and includes an upper force transmitting member to support a load. A confining member extends downward from the upper force transmitting member into the upright passage, and has an outer wall facing the wheel body. A spring member biases the upper force transmitting member to move upwardly and away from the mounting frame. The lock member is disposed on the outer wall and faces towards the lock engaging members such that when the upper force transmitting member is under load, the confining member will move downwardly to bring the lock member to engage one of the lock engaging members against the biasing action of the spring member, thereby braking the wheel body from rotation.

摘要： A transportable container comprises a container body, a handle, a sleeve member, and a caster assembly. The container body includes a base and a plurality of sidewalls extending generally upwardly from the base to define a container interior. One of the container sidewalls constitutes a generally vertical first sidewall. The handle includes a hand-engageable portion and a mounting portion, which extends from the hand-engageable portion. The first sidewall includes a flange, which comprises an upper edge margin of the first sidewall. The flange includes an outwardly extending first flange portion and a downwardly extending second flange portion. The first sidewall, first flange portion and second flange portion together define a socket, which is adapted to receive the mounting portion of the handle therein for mounting of the handle to the container body. The container body also includes a caster socket formed therein. The caster socket has an interior surface with a closed upper end and an open lower end. The sleeve member has an outer surface adapted for engagement with the interior surface of the caster socket. The caster socket is sized to receive the sleeve member therein in a frictional engagement. The sleeve member has an axial hole extending from a bottom end of the sleeve member toward a top end of the sleeve member. The caster assembly has a pintle. The axial hole in the sleeve member is sized to receive the pintle of the caster assembly therein for mounting the caster assembly to the container body. The container body is formed from a curable polymeric material.

摘要： An exemplary embodiment of a caster adapter includes a connecting base for coupling the caster adapter to a caster, at least two panels forming at least part of an adapter member and defining the interior of the adapter member wherein at least a portion of a leg of an object is insertable into the interior of the adapter member. The adapter member may contain a leg conforming portion that protrudes outward from the interior of the adapter member and corresponds with a leg protrusion on a leg of an object wherein the leg protrusion will fit within the leg conforming portion such that the object may be lifted off the ground without the caster adapter, and coupled caster, slipping off of the leg. The leg may be inserted into the caster adapter through an opening in the side of the adapter member, wherein the opening is blocked by the use of at least one containment member interacting with the adapter member. The leg conforming portion may be customized depending on the leg protrusion location and size on the subject leg. The containment member not only acts to retain the leg within the caster adapter but also allows for quick release of the caster adapter from the leg. The adapter member of the caster adapter is customizable to fit various geometries of legs. The containment member may be retained in proximity to the caster adapter through the use of an attachment member that is attachable to the adapter member and the containment member.
