摘要： A fire's electrostatic field is used to directly control and extinguish a fire. A flame is, in and of itself, a virtual electrode. The inventive electrostatic fire control and extinguishing device uses at least one common electrode and allows the fire's own electrostatic field to act as the other virtual electrode to repel the fire's flame, controlling the spread of the fire or to control its direction or to totally extinguish it. The electro-static fire control and extinguishing device exploits the electrostatic properties of the fire's flame, directly using at least one electrode set at the appropriate electrostatic charge to create the desired fire control while the fire acts as the second source of the electrostatic field in which the electrostatic attraction/repulsion interaction takes place. A high voltage electrostatic field is produced by a high voltage static generator and the desired charge level is delivered to the flame via a conductive grid.

摘要： A roof venting apparatus is mounted to a firefighting vehicle's aerial extension ladder, where a semi-cylindrical, double-pointed lance is dropped and raised onto and through the roof of a burning structure as many times as necessary to properly vent the burning building. The lance is dropped and raised by a free-spooling, electric braking winch, which is mounted to an anchor board securely hooked onto the bottom rungs of a fire truck's aerial extension ladder, and which is operated by a fire fighter on the ground who mans a toggle control panel welded onto the lower anchor board. The winch cable extends up the length of the extended aerial ladder, through a series of stabilizing, free-wheeling idler wheels mounted to another removable anchor board screwed onto the top rungs of the truck's extension ladder. The lance, if hollow, is transported to the scene of the fire empty, where it can be filled with water with the fire hose, to establish the necessary dropping weight. After its use, it is emptied through the drain hole at the base of the lance when the fire has been controlled and the lance is ready to be transported back to the station.

摘要： An elongated life line for firemen is back carried in an elongated tubular container attachable on, and detachable from a back carried air tank. The rope container has a latched, spring-opened closure at its bottom, accessible to the fireman by reaching behind his back. By pulling on a pigtail or on one swivel hook end of the rope, the unitary package of coiled rope is quickly released slide as a unit out of the bottom of the container for use. A flexible resilient blade on the rope container is slid down behind the encircling strap of the air tank and its lower end latched to the container.

The method further entails grasping the sprinkler head through the hose without breaching the sidewall of the hose, detaching the sprinkler head from the pipe, and releasing the sprinkler head to allow the sprinkler head and any residual water in the pipe to fall into and be contained by a lower portion of the hose.

摘要： An architecture is presented that provides a barrier device for protecting recreational fires from accidental intrusion by small children and animals. The barrier device comprises a plurality of gate panels linearly connected by a plurality of hinge elements. A fastening element is employed to selectively engage the outer two gate panels so that they may be connected together. When in use, the plurality of gate elements rotate about the plurality of hinge elements to form a seven-sided polygon-shaped configuration that is connected together by the fastening element. Typically, a user arranges the fastened barrier device around the fire. The open structure of the gate panels prevents access to the fire by small children or animals while allowing easy viewing and access to the fire by adults.
