摘要: This invention provides a tool for presenting items for selection by a user of a data processing system and for executing the selected items. Each item of the menus and dialogues is an individual and independent object in an object database, referred to as an interface object. These objects can be added or deleted independent of each other, allowing greater extendability and customization of the interface. The data within each of the interface objects and the selections from a user determine which of the interface objects will make up any one of several logical frame presentations at any one time to be presented to a user. The interface tool of this invention is adaptable for use with any one of a plurality of graphic libraries for presenting the actual screen image of the logical frame presentation to the user. In addition, the interface tool utilizes the message facilities of the system to present the elements of the interface in multiple languages. More specifically, the interface tool of this invention is used for managing the system resources of a data processing system by a user.

摘要: A water resistant garment is disclosed having regions of high MVTR while maintaining water resistance. The garment has a fabric layer adjacent one major surface of a nanofiber layer. The surface of the nanofibers are coated with a coating containing a fluorocarbon polymeric moiety and a resin binder or extender which is soluble in water and/or other solvents. The coated nanofiber layer has a contact angle of greater than 145°. The garment optionally includes a second fabric layer adjacent the other major surface of the nanofiber layer. The garment has regions having a Frazier air permeability of between about 0.5 m3/min/m2 and about 8 m3/min/m2, an MVTR of greater than about 500 g/m2/day and a hydrostatic head of at least about 50 cmwc.

摘要: Method and apparatus for optimizing mud pulse telemetry data rate by processing a sequence of measured pulses to minimize adverse effects of pressure pulse reflections, attenuations and distortions. A downhole telemetry unit cooperating with a sensor and disposed in a MWD or LWD logging tool generates a sequence of pulse within the mud column. The sequence is encoder to represent the response of the sensor disposed within the logging tool. The encoded pulse sequence is sensed at the surface of the earth using a pressure transducer. The output of the transducer yields an electrical signal that is typically attenuated and can contain reflections and distortions. This measured signal output is processed to minimize the effects of pulse reflections, attenuations and distortions thereby yielding a primary pulse sequence that is more representative of the response of the sensor and allowing an increase in mud pulse telemetry data rate.

摘要: A single-use scalpel blade remover (1) removes a blade (33) from a tang (32) of a scalpel (30) and captures it, in a single-handed operation. The remover (1) comprises a housing (2) having a detent (16), and an actuator (3) which is operatively juxtaposed with the housing (2) and moveable alongside the housing in a forward direction from a proximal position (whereat an opening is formed between the proximal ends of the actuator and the housing) to a distal position (whereat the detent (16) engages the proximal end of the actuator). The blade remover (1) also includes a cam-operated mechanism (14,23,20) for automatically separating the heel of the blade (33) from the tang (32) as the actuator (3) is moved to the distal position. In use, the blade (33) on the tang (32) is inserted in the opening and the actuator is pushed forward by the tang to its distal position, whereupon the detent (16) engages the proximal end of the actuator (3) and retains it in its distal position and prevents rearward movement of the blade (33). As the heel has been separated from the tang (32), upon withdrawal of the tang from the scalpel blade remover (1), the blade (33) is stripped from the tang and retained captively between the actuator (3) and the housing (2).

摘要: A system and method of detecting undesired email containing image-based messages employs a statistical analysis process which identifies and assigns probability values to the presence of each of a pre-selected set of text-related characteristics of an email under consideration and to the presence of each of a pre-selected set of image-related characteristics of the email under consideration. The identified characteristics and their associated probability values are used to determine whether the email is undesired. In one embodiment, the identification and assignment of probability values is a Bayesian analysis and, preferably, a Statistical Token Analysis. The system and method can identify undesired emails which contain images having messages, generally in the form of text in the image.
