Abstract:
In a roll type straightener, a barrel assembly including a pair of rolls (3, 3'), tightening male and female screws (5, 4), displacement male and female screws (14, 13) is mounted on a main shaft (8). The periphery of the respective female screws (4, 13) have a plurality of notches (22), with which pawls (18a, 19a) of levers (18, 19) are engageable for preventing the female screws (4, 13) from rotation with the main shaft (8) by a drive source. Upon the adjustment of barrel width, the pawl is selectively engaged with the notch (22) of the tightening female screw (4) or both female screws (4, 13), so that the female screws drive the mating male screws (5, 14) in the axial direction to displace one of the rolls (3') to a predetermined position, as the main shaft (8) rotates. The operation sequence is controlled in a fully automatic manner by a controller (23) while monitoring the rotation of the main shaft (8) by a detector (20).
Abstract:
A split type optical pick-up device suitable for use in an optical disc memory system has a two-part structure: stationary and movable optical systems which are provided separately. The stationary optical system includes a semiconductor laser for emitting a laser beam which is received by a deflecting member of the movable optical system. The thus deflected laser beam is focused onto an optical disc by an objective lens. The light reflecting from the optical disc passes through the objective lens in the reversed direction and also through the deflecting member to impinge upon a tracking error detector which is also provided in the movable optical system. Because of the provision of the tracking error detector in the movable optical system, there will be produced no offset in a tracking signal generated by the tracking error detector.
The light reflected from the optical disc passes through the objective lens in the reverse direction and also through the deflecting member to impinge upon a tracking error detector which is also provided in the movable optical system. The deflecting member has differnt rates of transmission for p and s polarized light for the light reflected from the optical disc such that the s polarized light is reflected toward the stationary optical system as much as possible so as not to waste the s polarized light, which defines a component of an information signal to be reproduced in the stationary optical system. Because of the provision of the tracking error detector in the movable optical system, there will be produced no offset in a tracking signal generated by the tracking error detector, and since the deflecting member reflects the s polarized light as much as possible, there is obtained an enhanced S/N ratio.
Abstract:
A heating wire is wound around a casing within which a sensor body is placed. Thermo-sensitive switch means is connected to the heating wire, which is responsive to the temperature within the casing to control the rate at which electric current is supplied to the heating wire so as to keep the temperature at a constant value. The casing may be placed within an airtight housing which is made of an insulating material. A further heating wire may be arranged on the inner wall of the airtight housing, which is controlled by further thermo-sensitive switch means so as to keep the temperature within the housing at a constant value.
