摘要： A wrap-around carrier with gusset panels connected to the bottom panel that automatically fold into their upright position when the bottom panel flaps are set up for locking engagement. The resulting upright portions of the gusset panels contact the bottom portion of adjacent articles in the carrier to prevent the articles from falling out through the ends of the carrier. The fold lines connecting the gusset panels to the side panels are angled back to lengthen these fold lines while cutouts in the gusset panels shorten the length of the other fold lines of the gusset panels. This increases the pulling power of the gusset panels while decreasing the bias force which must be overcome in order for the gusset panels to be folded into their upright position.

摘要： This relates to a transfer mechanism for transferring cartons from a magazine for such cartons. The mechanism includes first and second plates which are joined together for rotation in unison about a fixed shaft. The second plate has pivotally connected thereto a generally radially extending member to which there are connected parallel links which, in turn, are pivotally connected to a carrier in the form of a link parallel to the member and the carrier in turn carries a pair of suction type pickup heads. One of the parallel links extends beyond the other from the carrier and carries a cam follower which is engaged with a cam that is fixedly connected to the first plate for rotation therewith. The fixed shaft also carries a fixed gear which is meshed with a gear which is rotatably mounted on the first plate and which carries an eccentric pin engaged in a slot in the radially extending member to rock the same about its pivot.

摘要： An apparatus and method for merging articles on multiple infeed lines into a single outfeed line. The apparatus comprises a frame structure with an infeed end and an outfeed end, and at least two side transfer conveyors, each with a pair of parallel upstanding belts separated a predetermined distance and forming a central conveyance path. The side transfer conveyors are alternately operable to convey a predetermined number of articles to the outfeed end. A guide rail structure is located at the outfeed end and is aligned with the side transfer conveyors to direct output articles into a single line configuration.

The bottom panel sections are connected by triangular tuck panels having folds which extend up into the interior of the carrier on opposite sides of the handle to divide the carrier into cells. Tabs on the ends of the handle are connected with slots in the carrier to hold the handle and bottom panel in place.

The bottom panel is comprised of inner and outer mechanically connected flaps. The outer bottom panel flap contains a retainer flap at each end connected along a fold line overlying the inner edge of an opening in the inner bottom panel flap. The retainer flaps extend up into the interior of the carrier through the openings in the inner bottom panel flap, and include spaced converging fold lines which create angled side walls for engaging the bottom portions of the articles.

The side panel sections are connected to opposing side edges of the top panel section and to opposing side edges of the bottom panel section. The divider panel section is connected to the top panel section and to the bottom panel section. The divider panel section has at least one divider panel that extends between the top panel section and the bottom panel section to form article lanes. The divider section preferably includes a handle reinforcement portion, a first divider panel, and a second divider panel. The handle reinforcement portion is attached to a handle grip portion in the top panel. Top edges of the divider panels are foldably connected to opposing side edges of said handle reinforcement portion. The divider panels have a glue flap attached to the bottom panel section.

摘要： A multi-functional cam system for controlling movement of a portion of a machine performing repetitive operations. A cam has a contour designed to control at least two different sequences of motion for a mechanism driven by the cam. The desired sequence of motion is obtained by registering the cam on its shaft to the position corresponding with that sequence of motion, then locking the position of the cam relative to the shaft. The mechanism that attaches the cam to the shaft includes a two-part hub, the two parts being axially clampable, a sleeve attached to the cam, the sleeve having a portion that is clamped between the hub parts, and a radially expandable locking device operating between the first hub part and the shaft. The clocking mechanism includes a sleeve tab extending axially from the sleeve, and at least two hub tabs extending radially from the first hub part. The sleeve tab and the hub tabs are designed and arranged to interfere with rotation of the sleeve relative to the first hub part and to locate one of the hub tabs adjacent the sleeve tab for each of the positions of the cam relative to the shaft.

摘要： A divider panel for stacked cans is disclosed. The divider panel has an elongate paperboard strip (10) which includes a plurality of divider pads (12), each divider pad providing two rows of can seats (11) defined therein for being disposed between two layers of vertically stacked cans. The divider pads are connected along their ends to adjacent ones of the divider pads along perforated lines (13) to assist in separating the divider pads from one another as desired. The use of the elongate divider panel of this invention allows for lower operating speeds in placing the divider panel on a generally continuous lower layer of cans prior to placing the upper layer of cans thereon as the divider panel and the cans move along a path of travel on a packaging machine when compared to sequentially placing one of a series of separate divider pads between the pairs of cans otherwise being moved along the path of travel on the packaging machine at a relatively faster rate of speed. The divider panel of this invention can be used with a variety of arrays of cans.
