Abstract:
An expanding broadhead preferably includes a shank base, a razor tip, at least one expanding barb unit, a rear retention ring and a front retention ring. An arrow shaft shank extends from one end of the shank base and a tip slot formed in an opposing end to receive the razor tip. Each expanding barb unit preferably includes two barb elements that extend from a base ring. Each barb element preferably includes a lengthwise barb base, a first set of opposing barbs, a second set of opposing barbs and opposing bulges. The two lengthwise barb bases are bent to obtuse angles. The base ring of the expanding barb unit is bent into a substantially semi-circular shape. The rear retention ring is forced over the base ring to retain thereof on the base shank. The front retention ring is stretched and placed over the at least two barb elements.
Abstract:
In one illustrative form a shooting gallery kit is disclosed that includes a shooting gallery. The shooting gallery comprises an inflatable structure having a base that includes an upper floor; at least one air vent located in said upper floor operable to generate an air stream; at least one target configured to be placed in said air stream such that said target hovers in said air stream; and a blower operable to inflate said inflatable structure and cause said air stream to be emitted from said at least one air vent. A bow and a non-lethal arrow are also included in the kit.
Abstract:
The present invention is a rear-deploying broadhead with a body that is attachable to an arrow shaft. The body has an inner portion and an outer cylinder, with the inner portion being disposed within the outer cylinder when the broadhead is in a nondeployed position. The inner portion has a solid internal shaft, a head, and an inner cylinder. The internal shaft is disposed in a position forward to the head of the broadhead, and is situated substantially in the center of the inner portion and movable within the inner cylinder in a plunger-like manner. The solid internal shaft terminates within the inner cylinder and is attached proximate its termination to an internal sleeve, and at least two blades are pivotally attached to the internal sleeve. The outer cylinder comprises slots there-through adapted for deployment of blades.
Abstract:
An arrowhead for capturing and releasing prey during archery bowfishing or other archery activities includes an elongate housing for mounting to an arrow shaft; an elongate slot extending through the housing; an aperture extending transversely through the elongate slot, the aperture having a cross dimension that is larger than a width of the slot; and a barb having a middle section normally captured in the elongate slot in an extended position and at least one leg section extending from the middle section for movement therewith. The barb is slidable within the slot between a retracted capture/release position where the middle section of the barb is captured against rotation and a contracted position where the middle section of the barb is coincident with the aperture to allow rotation of the barb within the aperture about a central axis of the middle section to thereby adjust the at least one leg portion between capture and release positions of the barb for respectively capturing and releasing prey.
Abstract:
A projectile that includes a vibrating function is presented. The vibrating projectile, such as an arrow, is structured to penetrate flesh of an animal more easily than a standard projectile. After the arrow has reached its target, a switch turns on a vibrating mechanism that causes the arrowhead, such as a broadhead to vibrate as it is traveling into the animal. This deeper penetration causes more injury to the animal and reduces the time between arrow penetration and animal expiration.
Abstract:
Designs for expandable broadhead arrowheads with chisel tips for attachment to arrow shafts are provided. The chisel tips, when inserted into the ferrules of the expandable broadheads, provide greater durability, improved flight characteristics for the projectile to which the broadheads are attached, and more effective deployment of the cutting blades of the expandable broadheads.
Abstract:
A tip for a hunting arrow and a method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. A bullet-shaped tip is affixed to a shaft region and a threaded shaft for attachment to the threaded engagement of a standard hunting arrow. A pair of barbs extends out and forward from the tip. The barbs may be manufactured by creating a hole in a standard arrow tip transverse to the axial line thereof, and forcing a length of wire through the hole. The wire may be retained with a glue or sealant, and may be bent forward to a desired shape and sharpened.
Abstract:
A mechanical broadhead with a set of blades that mechanically activate via a fixed style blade that slides at impact. The blades may deploy inside a cavity of an animal or the blades may deploy outside a cavity of an animal. The blades are slideably secured in a body in accepting slots. The deployable blades may include a ratchet mechanism to lock the deployable blades in one or more positions. The mechanical broadhead maintains a low aerodynamic profile for proper flight via the deployable blades.
Abstract:
An arrowhead having a combination of fixed and expandable blades is provided. The new arrowhead has three mechanically expandable blades and six fixed blades. An expandable blade is snug fitted in between two fixed blades, eliminating the need for a mechanism to hold the expandable blade during the flight. In one embodiment of the present arrowhead, the expandable blades pivotally open from the front end of the arrowhead. And in the second embodiment of the present arrowhead, the expandable blades pivotally open from the rear end of the arrowhead.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide broadhead having a body portion that includes a number of slots that extend substantially along a length of the body portion. Extending from the body portion is one or more removable blades. In embodiments, each of the removable blades has an arcuate shape that causes each blade to have an inner side and an outer side with each inner side having a sharpened edge extending substantially along a front side thereof. Additionally, a base portion of each of the plurality of removable blades is configured to be received in respective slots of the plurality of slots.
