A post/stake removing tool with at least two base support angles from the ground for the fulcrum lever to pull on the post/stake near or at the angle the post/stake are inserted. The fulcrum is pivotably attached to the support and the jaw is pivotably attached to the lever arm. The jaw is a diamond shaped aperture for grabbing the post/stake in four places. A fulcrum/lever is also used to remove heavy or stuck manhole covers. A combination hook and jack lifting head apparatus is attached to the lever arm for manual use or for lifting with a jack.

A jack comprises a main frame device, an extensible rod device and two wheels. The main frame device has an upright pipe, a driving rod connected to the upright pipe, a reinforced plate connected to the driving rod and the upright pipe, an upper rod inserted in the upright pipe, and an upper block mounted on the upper rod. The extensible rod device has an outer pipe, a middle pipe inserted in the outer pipe, and an inner pipe inserted in the middle pipe. An inserted end of the driving rod is inserted in a lower end of the outer pipe. Two wheels are fastened on the upright pipe pivotally.

A combination tool for lifting furniture and modular office panels with adjustable leveling glides mounted on a threaded shaft and for removing glued down carpet. The tool has an elongated handle and a blade pivoted about a fulcrum spaced rearwardly of the front end of the blade. The front end of the blade has a transverse cutting edge and a longitudinal slot opening from the transverse cutting edge for straddling the threaded shaft when the tool is used to lift the furniture and panels. The handle is attached to the blade at an obtuse angle and the blade pivots about a fulcrum spaced rearwardly of the front end of the blade such that the front end of the blade is elevated from about 1/2 to 2 inches above the floor at full pivot.

A tool and method are presented whereby a heavy storm drain cover or other object can be easily removed and replaced by an individual workman. The device includes a base having a lever pivotally mounted thereto and an attachment device for the storm drain cover. Once attached the lever is manually lifted causing the cover to raise whereby the user can swivel the lever from side to side to place the cover at a convenient distance. To replace the cover, it is lifted by the lever and is then rotated and lowered over the storm drain opening. A tension device is affixed to the cover attachment to secure it prior to raising by the lever.

A roof-opening device for use by fire fighters to open a vent hole for the venting of gases from a burning building containing plywood panels attached to roofing beams, such device having a shaft with a handle at the top end thereof and a transversely positioned fulcrum member at the bottom end thereof and a pair of tines extending outwardly from the fulcrum member, the tines spaced apart from one another a distance to pass over on both sides of a roofing beam after the tines are passed through a slot cut in the roof generally perpendicular to such roofing beams such that the tines when manuevered downward through the slot on each side of the roofing beam can lift the plywood panel attached thereto in incremental steps as the fulcrum member is moved along the roofing beam to separate the plywood panel from the roofing beam and open up a vent hole.

A jack for elevating a sofa or similar article of furniture to facilitate cleaning the area beneath the article has an elongated, horizontal beam rollably supported at the rear end thereof by a pair of wheels, one on each end of a horizontal axle disposed perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the horizontal beam. An L-shaped plate attached to the front end of the horizontal beam has a lower horizontal plate extension adapted to be inserted under an article of furniture. The jack includes an upright beam member that is pivotably attached to a wheel axle. A stop member located rearward of the axle limits rearward movement of the upright member, such that under the force of gravity the longitudinal axis of the upright member extends obliquely upward and rearward from the horizontal beam. Downward pressure applied to a foot pedal pivotably attached to the upper end of the upright member transmits a torque through the stop member to the horizontal beam which is effective in elevating the front end of the horizontal beam and an article of furniture under which the L-shaped plate may be inserted. The upright member may be pivoted forward to place the jack in a more compact configuration for storing and transporting.

A snowmobile jack is described herein that raises the rear of the snowmobile off of the ground when it is not in use. Manufacturers suggest that snowmobiles be raised when not in use, so that their tracks do not freeze to the ground. Manufacturers also recommend that snowmobiles be warmed up with their tracks elevated. This cuts down on general wear and tear of the tracks and supporting belts. The jack comprises a vertical lift bar slidable within a sleeve. The bar is raised by a foot pedal lever which acts on the lower end of the bar and is latched in the raised position. The bar carries a transverse rod adjustable in height relative thereto with hooks for engaging the rear bumper of the snowmobile.

A lift for raising or tilting a small vehicle such as a riding lawn mower is disclosed including first and second ramps. The ramps each include an angled portion connected to a horizontal portion in turn connected to a vertical portion. The ramps are held by legs which extend from the vertical portion and which in the preferred form are removably pivotably mounted for ease of assembly and storage. T-shaped levers are pivotally mounted to the upper free ends of the vertical portions and generally include a first bar having a first end pivotably mounted to the ramps and a second bar having a first end conntected to the first bar intermediate its ends. In the most preferred form, the levers are pivotably mounted to the ramps by a cylindrical bar rotatably and slideably received in collars formed on the levers and ramps, with the cylindrical bar also holding the ramps in a spaced, parallel relation. Straps interconnect the free ends of the first bars of the levers with the vehicle. Thus, as the levers are pivoted from a position where the first bar is generally horizontal to a central position, the vehicle is pulled by a force directed forward and up and as the levers are pivoted from the central position to an overcenter position, the vehicle is pulled with a force directed forward and downward.

A lifting tool for heavy, flat, round covers, such as manhole covers, is disclosed. The covers include two pairs of diametrically opposed edge notches. The lifting tool comprises an upright column, the lower end of which terminates in a first pair of prongs or teeth that are adapted to cooperate with one of the notch pairs. A swing arm is pivotally connected to an intermediate portion of the tool's upright column. The swing arm includes one or more sets of teeth to facilitate lifting of covers having different diameters. The swing arm teeth are adapted to cooperate with the second pair of cover notches, to thereby facilitate lifting of the cover out of its casing by manual rotation of the upright column about the first pair of teeth. The upright column includes wheels that are located above the first set of teeth. These wheels are located so that they will not engage the ground until the cover has been lifted out of its casing, thus facilitating movement of a lifted cover. The tool can include a pin adapted to cooperate with a lifting hole that is provided in some, but not all, covers.

According to the invention there is provided a tree remover which has a relatively long lever in the form of a beam or rod, and has a hole near one end of the lever. A chain having a hook at each end is threaded through the hole. One of the hooks, the slip hook, is looped around the tree trunk or the bottom part of the bush in one or two turns of the chain, and the lever is placed with the end opposite the hole against the ground a given short distance from the root of the tree or bush. The other end of the chain is then locked with the grab hook against the lever, and a substantially horizontal force is applied to the lever. The horizontal force is converted to a significantly greater, substantially vertical, leveraged force for pulling the tree or bush upward and out of the ground.
