    摘要: For keyboards, the present invention provides a method of determining suitable letter arrangements, to create an arrangement that is both user-friendly and efficient. The letters in the preferred embodiment are in the familiar alphabetical order so they are easy to find, and their locations are easy to learn and retain. The alphabetical sequence goes from left to right, row by row from top to bottom, first for the left hand, then for the right hand, like reading the pages of a book. This arrangement optimizes efficiency and user-friendliness, maximizing the separation of the most commonly used pairs of letters into the faster, two-handed sequences, while providing a logical and easily recognized layout. The usual four punctuation marks are placed within the layout so as to enhance both of these qualities. The locations chosen add visual symmetry and help to indicate the home positions of the fingers and the division for left and right hands, for a more intuitive and user-friendly layout: they also minimize the frequency of slow or awkward same-finger sequences, yielding higher typing speeds with reduced errors for improved efficiency. The invention far surpasses the existing standard keyboard in both efficiency and user-friendly qualities, and is therefore eminently suitable for both full-time professionals and occasional users.

    摘要: A computer system includes a touchpad with one or more overlays providing the computer system with various input control functions. The overlay preferably includes tactile response elements to provide tactile feedback to the operator as an indication that a portion of the overlay has been pressed. The touchpad includes a capacitive sensor. Electronics coupled to the touchpad determine which portion of the touchpad sensor surface area has been touched or pressed. The amount of tactile feedback to the computer operator can be varied through the design and construction of the overlay and the overlay may be provided with no tactile feedback, if desired. As such, numerous overlays can be placed on the touchpad of the computer system, thereby providing the computer system with multiple different input control functions. The computer operator may manually input the type of overlay being used into the computer. Alternatively, a portion of the touchpad surface area maybe dedicated to encoding overlay identification information using any one of a variety of techniques. Thus, the computer system may automatically detect the type of overlay used.

    摘要: An improved key structure for computer keyboards includes two crossed support frames that, after pivotal connection, have center limiting rods projecting respectively from outer sides of the connecting position. Left and right slide rods respectively project from both sides of a horizontal rod at a bottom end of the two crossed support frames, with an inverted U-shaped groove disposed at a middle section and straddling on the limiting plates of the corresponding key base so that when the crossed support frames are compressed and lie down in a closed state, they will not deviate. Two opposite slide bars that orient inwardly are provided on upper ends of the crossed support frames. Four slide holes are respectively provided on a bottom face of a key unit corresponding to the slide bars so that the slide bars can be positioned in the four slide holes and cause the two crossed frames to lie flat. Furthermore, four L-shaped slide seats are provided on the key base of the base plate corresponding to the left and right slide rods on the two crossed support frames so that the left and right slide rods may just insert into the slide holes to perform left and right displacements. Vertical slide tracks are provided on the key base corresponding to the two center limiting rods of the two crossed support frames so that the center limiting rods are limited by the slide tracks on both sides thereof. An elastic silicon rubber is provided to urge upwardly against the key unit. When the key unit is pressed, upward and downward vertical movement of the key unit is ensured to avoid slanting or deviation. Since the slide rods and slide bars are located in the thickness range of the keyboard base, and the four slide holes will partly go deep into the key base when the key is pressed to its limit, the height between the key and the base plate can be reduced to decrease the overall thickness of the keyboard.

    摘要: Phonetic Chinese (Pinyin and BPMF) is entered into a computer system and accurately converted into the Hanzi form. The system has a keyboard with diacritic keys (and corresponding ASCII coding) that permit the user to annotate each entered phonetic text syllable with a diacritic that indicates the tone of the syllable. A process executing on the system determines that a syllable has been entered when a diacritic (or delimiter) key is struck. An entered phonetic syllable is then compared to a list of acceptable phonetic syllables and abbreviations. If the entered syllable is on the list, the correctly spelled and accented syllable is stored in memory and displayed on a phonetic portion of a graphical display. The process continues for succeeding syllables until a delimiter is entered. Upon encountering a delimiter, the word string (defined as the string of characters between two delimiters) is analyzed using morphological and syntactical processes and/or a statistical language model to unambiguously determine the proper Hanzi characters that represent the word(s) in the word string. The unique Hanzi translation is stored in memory and displayed on a Hanzi portion of the graphical interface.

    摘要: An improved keypad includes a plurality of apertured bases in the keyboard, a pressing rod and a keypad for each of the apertured bases. The pressing rod has opposing projected tracks and the apertured base has slots on its interior wall. This structure allows the pressing rod to be housed inside the apertured base so as to reduce the friction during the keypad operation. The reduction of friction provides a smooth keyboard operation. Moreover, the gap between the exterior wall of the pressing rod and the interior wall of the aperture base is wider, therefore, the keypad resonance is lessened during operation.
