摘要: An improved apparatus and method for use with a natural gas dehydrator. The apparatus and method of the invention provide for recirculation of gaseous or combustible materials so that they are not released into the atmosphere and to provide fuel for the process. Likewise, liquid hydrocarbons are collected. Various components, including separators, an absorber, wet glycol, dry glycol, an effluent condenser, heat exchangers, and a reboiler are utilized in accordance with the present invention.

摘要: A process and equipment for extracting and disposing of sour reservoir components initially contained in natural hydrocarbons. The stream of natural hydrocarbons extracted from a reservoir is initially subjected to an optional gas/liquid separation. The gaseous hydrocarbons are then scrubbed with a liquid absorbent to dissolve sour reservoir components such as hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide and thereby form a solution. The liquid absorbent may be water that is preferably sufficiently free of oxygen and solids to be of a quality suitable for re-injection. The solution is pumped back into a well. The well may be the reservoir that produced the hydrocarbons, or adjacent geological formations, with the re-injected sour water being employed for production stimulation. Alternatively, the well may be a depleted reservoir. The scrubber may be a multiple-stage packed column or tray column that preferably allows for condensate skimming.

摘要: In accordance with the invention, there is provided a method of binding a gas or volatile compound in a cucurbituril, by contacting the gas or volatile compound with the cucurbituril to form a cucurbituril-gas/volatile complex. There is also provided a method of separating a gas or volatile compound from a mixture of compounds wherein the mixture is contacted with a cucurbituril and whereby at least some of the gas or volatile compound is bound to the cucurbituril to form a cucurbituril complex, followed by the release of at least some of the bound gas or volatile compound from that complex. The present invention is thus advantageous in that it allows use of cucurbiturils in binding gases and volatile compounds for storage, safety, delivery or other uses, such as the trapping of an unpleasant or toxic gas or volatile compound.

摘要: An absorption apparatus for an absorption chiller includes a series of eliminator blades situated between a vaporizing chamber (e.g., a generator or an evaporator) and a devaporizing chamber (e.g., a condenser or an absorber). Each of the blades includes an upstream leg, a downstream leg and a deflection tab. With respect to the direction of vapor flowing from the vaporizing chamber to the devaporizing chamber, the upstream leg is at an upward incline and the downstream leg is at a downward incline. The deflection tab extends out over the downstream leg to create a concavity that helps prevent liquid in the devaporizing chamber from splashing back across the eliminator blade. In some embodiments, a tube support plate includes a series of holes for not only supporting the tube bundles of two heat exchangers but also for supporting the eliminator blades.

摘要: A process for the recovery of combustible components of a gas stream containing the combustible components and oxygen by selective absorption of the combustible components in a solvent, whereby during the absorption the gas phase is dispersed in a continuous liquid phase of the solvent. In a preferred embodiment the process is applied to give a process for the epoxidation of propene with hydrogen peroxide in the alcoholic solvent in presence of a catalyst, wherein a gas stream including unreacted propene, propene oxide and oxygen from the decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide is separated from the epoxidation reaction mixture and the combustible components in said gas stream are recovered using the process as described above.

摘要: A process for separating at least one component of a mixture in a set of closed-loop chromatographic columns is described, whereby the loop comprises at least one feedstock injection point, a raffinate draw-off point, an eluant injection point, and an extract draw-off point, in which a determination is made between an injection point and a draw-off point or vice-versa a chromatographic zone, and at the end of a given period of time, all of the injection points and draw-off points are shifted by the same number of columns or column sections and advantageously by one column or column section in a given direction that is defined relative to that of the flow of a main fluid that circulates through the loop. During the period, the shifting of different injection points and draw-off points of at least one column or column section is done at different times in such a way that the lengths of the zones that are defined by said different points are variable. Application to the separation particularly of stereoisomers for pharmaceutics.
